I have a HDTV with an optical out. I have the optical out running from the tv to my reciever. My dvd player is hooked up via HDMI to the HDTV so I am covered on Dolby there. I was wondering how to get my xbox to be dolby though. I have an optical out on the xbox adapter but no place to connect it.

There are two types of digital inputs for audio. Optical and coaxial. So, another possibility depends on your receiver having a coaxial input also. If so, then you can use a coax to optical convertor. I picked one up at radio shack.

"... but no place to connect it". I assume you mean you have no place to connect it on your receiver? If you only have the one "optical in" on your receiver, then the connection from your TV is already using it.

To get multiple optical wires to share that connection, you'll need a switch device. I use a Pelican System Selector. See the link below to one at Amazon.com.
