It's probably because of the holidays?

Start a Christmas Club Account....Put away $100 a month...You'll have $1,200 at year end. $150 a month, $1,800.

I'm not sure in your case but often it's excessive Holiday spending that creates the New Year bummer.

Make a skimpy Holiday budget and stick to it. You will always love yourself in Jan. That Holiday spending has a way of getting totally out of hand. No matter who gets you what, you stick with your budget. I have plenty of money, compared to my family that I exchange gifts with, every year I say, I'm keeping it really slim this year so please do likewise. Every year they over spend and every year I don't. It's just a habit. Every year I'm happy all year long and every year they are tight in Jan. Feb. We must love ourselves first and then be generous within reason for our own budget.

Do your Holiday shopping through the whole year and plan to be done before Thanksgiving. You will have less stress and probably spend less and get people better gifts.
