Exercise is the foundation of learning. For example when a child crawls, they are developing a later writing skill. This happens because they first us the right side of their body then the left side of their body. If you can get an older child to cross the mid-line by taking your right hand and touching your left foot that child will be able to develop fine motor skills easier. This whole idea is amazing to me, but quite fascinating.

Beyond the fine motor skills, children who have ADD, ADHD, or are just hyper need exercise to clear their minds. Exercise will help them grow in mind and body. Help settle their already active minds!

When children jump, run, and hop they are developing the large muscle group which is attached to the bone and this in turn makes the bones strong.
This helps to develop large motor skills in balancing and handling heavy weights
This also helps to get oxygenated and expand a child's lungs and acquire a strong heart.
Fine motor skills has to do with fingertip and finger movement. This is important also in life as one gets older.
