i apologigize in advance for my ignorance...

i know there are many types of english accents. but i don't really know how to categorize them. (i am in the US)

so...i was watching some BB clips from channel 4 online...can you please tell me what regional accent jade goody has?

the more i watch british tv, the more diverse "the english accent" is becoming to me. now i would like to start making regional connections with what i am hearing.

thank you!

even though she is rather idiotic, i don't associate her accent with her education. now that you mention it...she did have difficulty saying the words "attire" and "treatment". i would never make a cultural assumption based on the actions of one or a few. she doesn't shape nor change my opinion of the english.

i only singled her out because i knew that most of you would recognize her.

and i appreciate being able to watch the bb clips, because it gives me a lot more understanding of the animosity that everyone has been feeling here!

Commonly referred to as 'south London slapper clap'

It is a south (east) London accent and is not accepted by the majority of us Londoners because of the bastardisation of the London dialect in general!

Accents in every country are diverse, just like in America where you live. There is no one generic accent for a country, only if you've lived somewhere all your life would you recognise the subtle differences.

When most people do an "Irish" accent, they do the leprechaun thing, which is usually a bad country accent and not representative of Ireland as a whole.

Depending on how specific you want to be, her accent comes under the general category of Cockney. To be more precise, she has a south London accent (I'm not basing this just on the fact that she is from south London - her accent really is typical to south London, although more educated south Londoners tend to enunciate better).

She is from East London therefore you would think she might have a cockney accent- but lots of people get cockney mixed up with common- Jades accent is common.
Ha ha I think i might upset a few people saying that. Oh well!

Jade is from Bermondsey, so she has a South London accent - which is, when you know them well, noticeably different from a North London or East End ("Cockney") accent.

South London Accent, but she is thick and has a problem saying normal words correctly as well, basically a thick london bint, who now most of England hate, quite right

Her accent isn't one the best English accents out there.

She is from South East London and is what is know as a cockney accent. However she speaks so badly and mispronounces words so much, it an embarrassment to the genuine cockney accents.

Well she was born and raised in Bermondsey in South East London, it seems it has improved a lot but it used to be quite a rough part of London. She comes from quite a deprived family and speaks the "street language"! :)

She has a cockney accent which oddly compliments her abhorrent racist views.

Jade Goody does not represent the views of 99.9% of citizens in England, just the views of racist Londoners and perhaps a few coked up BB executives.
