My friend gets beaten up by her ex, he takes their daughter whenever he feels like it, even in the middle of town. She can't get any help from anyone, not the police or the law in general. No restraining order is allowed. What can she do? It's made me sooooo angry that no-one is interested. She needs help now. She's 18

Why can't she get help from the police? Why aren't restraining orders allowed? does she have proof of this abuse? I mean does she at least have you or another friend take pictures of her bruises or battered body? She can take those pictures to court and get full custody of the child then move as far away from him as possible. If that's not possible then she should move to a place where the police isn't powerless to help and restraining orders are allowed.
If she doesn't get out of this abusive situation now she'll end up being another Nicole Brown Simpson or another statistic. I suggest that she gets her family involve and seek help from women shelters or any other organisation willing to help her get away from him.

Well beating up someone (woman or anyone) is a crime, but I'd like be interested to hear the other side of the story... why is he so intent on getting the kid? Is she a bad mom? Drugs or something? If he's violent she sure CAN get a restraining order i'd think!

I just can't figure out why she can't get any help. Seems like some information "is" missing from this story. Have her contact the women's shelter for battered women, then they have to issue a restraining order. Those places have a 'no contact' policy.

I am sensing an acute shortage of information. If anyone, beats up anyone, anywhere and the cops do nothing, there is a damn sight more to the story than you are telling.

Who is telling you that she can't get a restraining order? That's a blatant lie.

She must get evidence and witnesses that this is happening. Ask legal advice, CAB should be able to help.
