it wouldnt necessarily mean the claim was invalid, but it could mean you have to pay a massive excess. you should always make sure that you have declared any points you have to your insurance company, as this can affect the premium you pay and also they way your claim is treated, as per my example of a pretty huge excess. if you have any points, tell your insurance company now. and if you've got your points and already made your claim, then all i can say is good luck!

I assume you reside in the United States, correct??
If you reside in some other country disregard my answer. If you live in the US, the first few answers given are totally wrong!!
When you begin coverage w a company they pull a copy of your record, usually before they even accept your down payment & issue a binder.
If you lied/forgot they'll make you aware of what the record says & what it does to the premium.
In the rare case where a record wasn't pulled, or it was mis-read, or they discover an accident not on your record after starting coverage they have a "discovery period" which limits the ability to do a flat cancellation to the first 30 days in most states.
After that they can't cancel until the next renewal date. Even if they do find something during the discovery period you must be sent notice of their intent via registered mail, & it will stipulate the date of cancellation, which will be at least 30 days in the future.
They can't just cancel retro active to the inception date unless they can prove gross fraud such as impersonating another individual , or damaging the vehicle deliberately to collect on a fraudulent claim.
If the accident happened while the policy was in force, and you are liable for damages, they'll pay.
BTW, points are used in most states to decide on whether you are punished by the Motor Vehicle Dept....like 6 points might require you attend a hearing or driving school.
Ins companies don't care about points they count the number of violations in the last 36 months, whether you got zero or two pts it's still one violation.

When you took out your insurance policy, there would have been a section as to whether or not you had any points on your license. If you did not divulge that you did have points on your license, (for whatever reason) this may invalidate the insurance policy. Insurers will use this get-out clause if they can, and they possibly will. You will therefore be liable.

Could do if the insurers find out!
That is one of the first things insurers require in information - whether you have points or convictions!
If they don't realise and then pay you and find out afterwards you could be in trouble! It has happened where insurers have claimed back all payments plus costs from people that have mis-informed them on policies

Forcing a Citizen to purchase a product from a private employer is extremely unconstitutional The shape for sure state that no citizen would be compelled to purchase a product from a private employer. vehicle coverage would not count quantity because of the fact a Citizen would not could desire to very own a motor vehicle. actually everyone that's a Citizen has to have a physique this wellbeing care invoice may be the 1st time in united statesa.'s historic previous which you would be compelled to purchase some thing on account which you exist. As information I furnish the ten modification "The powers no longer delegated to the USA by skill of the shape, nor prohibited by skill of it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the human beings" they could could desire to alter the shape for his or her invoice to artwork. The states are the source of regardless of power the needed government has, because of the fact the states created the needed government interior the path of the compact which all of us understand because of the fact the shape. The states have not got purely that freedom of action the needed government helps them to have; fairly, the needed government has purely those powers the states enable it to have. on account that taking on our finished wellbeing care device isn't between the "enumerated powers," the federal government has no constitutional, criminal or ethical remarkable to do it. this variety of attempt is, as Jefferson noted, "unauthoritative, void and of no stress." I stand with Mr. Jefferson in this one, and each state legislature could desire to do the comparable..

If you mean, you got insurance without telling the insurance you had points on your record and now you have a claim and are worried they will find out about your previous driving record and not honor your claim.
I wouldn't worry, they checked your driving record before they insured you. If they didn't and somehow found out now, you could claim you didnt understand what you were being asked.

Did you tell a lie on your application? Then just watch the insurers wash their hands of you!
You have a legal contract and if you have told a lie or failed to satisfy the conditions if you're required to tell them of any subsequent convictions, you've broken your contract and you're out on your own, buddy!

You have to declare any points to your insurer when you take out your insurance (or when convicted, if later). Failure to do so will invalidate your insurance and make you liable to criminal prosecution.
