Peel, chop and saute in little olive oil with garlic. Don't overcook to retain flavor and nutrients. Season to taste.

Being from the south.........I would open a couple cans of turnip greens, add a couple tablespoons of bacon grease, but if you don't have BG then use a beef bullion cube, dice the turnips on top salt them a bit, cover and wait for the turnips to get tender and the water from the turnip greens to evaporate.

I peel mine and cook them like a potato but I more often use them in my soups. As a child in Europe by the end of WW2 that was all that we had left in our garden before the Americans liberated us.
We had turnips 3 times a day and in between I was always hungry. Like Chinese food they do not last long. So I am not a big fan of them anymore yet they are very good for you.

Turnips can be cooked pretty much like potatoes. One easy way is to slice thin and bake 'em. Add a touch of low sodium salt and serve as chips.

Turnips can be sliced and sauteed or fried like potatoes.
They can be mashed like potatoes.
They are VERY common used in soups with beef or especially chicken. (To ME, campbells chicken soups have a strong turnip smell)
I would highly recommend buying the Victory garden cookbook. It is fantastic.

Can be cooked just like a potatoe. Peel and boil and serve with some butter and salt or seasoning of choice.
Can use in vegetable soup.
Can mash like taters too.

They are actually quite good raw. I cut them into sticks (like carrots) and dip them into Ranch dressing. They go nicely on a veggie tray with dip. When raw, they kinda have a sweet flavor.
Personally I will not eat them cooked, but will eat them raw.

treat it like a potato. Practically anything you can do with a potato you can do with a turnip.

Try shredding them into a coleslaw as a full or partial substitute for cabbage.
