She has been running around the house barking at any little thing. She has been extremely obiedent, then guarding and agressive.
Is she just too hungry? I switched her from Nutro Max mini chunks.
I think she is back to the correct weight. She went from the vet scale type 8, I think she is back to a 6 or 7. I can just barely feel her ribs.

This behavior is different from usual on the Nutro Max.

Maybe it is the different work schedule we have been home all the time lately. Before she spent 2-3 hrs a day in the crate.

Her sense of smell is getting better she can smell a crunchy dog treat at 5 feet. I had one on the counter and she was able to sniff it out from 5 feet.

You should have kept her on the nutro brand or another brand that is healthy for her. Beneful is not a healthy dog food as it contains corn and fillers. I would either put her back on Nutro or Natures Recipe as neither of them contain corn or fillers. Remember to switch her slowly or she will get sick.

Nutro is one of the best dog foods out there. I would switch her back - not to Max however but to the natural choice. They are both premium foods but Max has more protein and fat which may be why she was gaining weight. Nutro uses natural products no by products or corn which is hard to digest.

Beneful uses by products which is heads, feet and intestine which isn't the healthiest for your dog, and a lot of the other extra ingrediants adds to hyperactivity.

Nutro small bites should help. If she gains weight put her on the lite, it's reduces calories.

Establish your alpha status again. Give her commands when she is allowed to eat etc. Put the food down and tell her to leave it, then tell her to eat. She should be eating on a schedule also.

There is an eating guide on the side of the food bag. Follow that guide and monitor her weight - it will be a good indication on how much she should eat. I have a 50-55lb golden retriever who only gets 2 cups a day and 1 large treat and she is at a very healthy weight with no problems.

Good Luck

I think this has less to do with what she's eating and more to do with 'needing a job' - that is, getting enough mental and physical stimulation so that she's not bouncing off the walls.
For resource guarding - you want to really be pro-active about stopping that. This can become a major problem if the dog is allowed to continue it. Don't hesitate to get the help of a trainer if you try the methods on the following sites and they don't work.

I suspect the food issue and the behavior chnage may be unrelated. Have there been any other changes in the routine of your household that might explain the change in behavior? New people or pet in the house? New work schedule? Dogs have a routine and any changes can cause changes in behavior.

There is nothing healthy about Beneful. I'd go loopy if you fed it to me too. Switch her to a good quality food.

Sounds like typical terrier personality to me. You just have to mold her to what is acceptable.
