Why don't you try for Yahoo! Messenger with voice? Call computer to computer (anywhere, worldwide!) for free provided that each of you have the headset with mic. Can even have a party line. I've spoken with a couple of friends at the same time.

I know you asked for free, but on Y! Messenger with Voice, you can call from your computer to a phone (U.S.) for as low as a penny a minute.
