If the female comes in heat, the problem will be getting them NOT to mate. Dogs don't really care what breed they are. They will mate because that's just what they do. In this situation, I would hope that the Chihuahua is the male. Mating a Fox Terrier male with a Chihuahua female could be very hard on her when she delivers the pups.

Chihuahua. And why do you want these to different breed dogs to mate? If you don't know about breeding dogs you should be breeding. And breeding two dogs to make mixed breed puppies is just adding to the unwanted dog population. Before you start breeding you need to do research on breeding, and talk to breeders. You need to know how to take care of the puppies, and make sure there is a demand for those puppies. What happens to all the puppies that no one wants? They end up at the shelter. If you personally want a dog of this mix first look at your local animal shelters, because there is a good chance they already have one.

ok I hate to be like some of the other people on here but if you dont even know how to spell the breed you want to use you dont need to breed (its Chihuahua by the way). If you are going to ignore the advice of DO NOT BREED THESE DOGS, at least make sure the male dog is smaller than the female. This will make delivery for the female much easier and makes the risk of having big puppies less, which makes the chances of having to have a C-section less. Really you need to do some more studying if you really want to breed dogs. You should get them spayed and neutered so they have less chance of developing prostate cancer (males) and mammary cancer (females) or having unwanted puppies.

Before you mate your dogs, please educate yourself first, about dog breeding. Breeding takes alot of responsibility, can be very expensive, is very time consuming, and should never be done, except by those, who know exactly what their doing. By the way this question sounds, you haven't educated yourself enough to know, what is involved in it, and breeding them, can become dangerous for the dogs, and it would be a better idea to get them both fixed.

Dim the lights, add some champagne, and get Mr. Manilow on the HIFI system.

Let Mr. Smooth create the love environment. It'll happen.

You don't. Breeding isn't for any jo blow, it's takes a lot of experience and knowledge to produce a successful litter and a lot of money.

Have your dog de-sexed and leave the breeding to the professionals who dedicate their loves and their money to it.
