Because I am borderline anemic someone suggested I drink prune juice which is a good source of iron. I also tend to have low blood sugar, though I'm not a diabetic.

At noon lunch I drank an 8 oz glass of prune juice (first time I've ever had it). Nausea started at 2pm. Diarhhea at 3pm. I felt pretty sick and miserable until 9 o'clock that night. Thought I had a stomach virus but could this actually have been the juice? Can it make you feel that sick??

I feel ok this morning, by the way.

That would probably be par for the course. Don't drink that again.
Maybe you could buy a bag of dried prunes and have a couple before bed. There are also iron supplements you can get anywhere (Target, Walgreens) for your needs. Find out exactly how much iron you need to supplement each day, per info from your doc. Iron is also constipating if you take supplements, so you may end up with the opposite situation which may then require a stool softener.

oh dear, sorry to tell you but the best laxative is...yup! prune juice, as you found out!
did you eat anything or just have the juice? nausea is,nt usual side effect as i know.
unless you are vegetarian? eat some red meat, or spinach, broccoli, or even take , a good multivitamin. borderline would,nt really be a reason for iron tablets. they have ukky side effects too, black stools, smelly too.
if you want to use prunes ,well ,have half a glass , to acclimatise!
or just eat them 2 or 3 is plenty, maybe every second day. and they are nice soft dried, also other dried fruits. try for ones without sulphur, sodium metabisulphite though, read the labels!!
low blood sugar, hmm cos you dont eat often or much? do the diabetics trick of a dry biscuit at least every two or three hours, to keep the wobblies and dizzy feelings away.

It can be a shock to the digestive system. Any change in the osmotic balance will leave you feeling horrible. Try a different mode of getting your iron. Green leafy vegitables, maybe. Stay away from "the juice", unless you are constipated.
