You would probably want to look for one with short hair. Dogs that have long hair require more frequent bathing to keep the smell down, due to sweat, dirt, food stuck in the hair, etc. Also, you may want to keep in mind that dogs with long hair must be brushed alot to keep knots from forming. Any dog will not stink given he or she is properly maintained, but I know in this day and age, many people don't have that much time to spend brushing their dog every day ,or washing it at least 1 to 2 times a week. My advice would be to look for something in the short hair category, and you won't have to worry so much about so much maintainence.

I have 2 shepards and my house really doesn't smell like dog. I am kindof a neat freak though. Just keep them well groomed and bathe them every once in a while. You aren't going to find a dog that doesn't smell like a dog unless it is a stuffed one! Good luck to ya!

All the Spitz breeds lack that doggy odour. Not all other dogs smell either if they are regularly groomed but if having a nice house is a priority I'd forget about animals!

How about a Greyhound? They have no 'doggie odour' at all. They have only one coat of fur making them virtually shed-free and odourless. Their sleek short coat has more oil and less dander than other breeds, which means they are less likely to trigger allergies. Ours is an ex-racer, and we let him off the lead at our local park almost immediately. He never tried to run away, or chase other dogs, birds etc. But it is advisable to get a greyhound muzzle for when you let him off initially, just to be safe. There are so many re-homing websites for Greyhounds, most of which are full of detailed info on the breed. They have a lovely temperament, and walk so well on the lead. We have had our rescue Greyhound for nearly 4 years now, and love him to bits!!

all dogs smell the same, it seems that you need to educate yourself on dog management first,

the easiest way to stop any dog smelling bad is to bathe it often, get advic from the vet or r.s.p.c.a

good luck

You sound as if you would be better suited to getting a goldfish and a budgerigar. Dogs roll in delightfully stinking stuff. A true dog lover knows that. I don't think a dog is your thing.

get something short haired, ive got a boxer staffy cross and he doent smell much, just keep their bedding clean dn bath them every now and again - not too often as its not good for their skin - washes away their natural oils or something! happy dogging!!

REALITY CHECK...... If you don't want a smelly, hairy, muddy house don't get a dog they all smell.
