Obviously it woudln't be easy and would probably take time, but we are expected to forgive. God has forgiven us an even greater debt as explained in one of Jesus's parables.

Excellent Question ....

Forgiveness is not easy...'

I had some situations in my life as a child that took me 20 years to forgive .. I think the reason this happened is because I was not willing to let go and give it to GOD....

I was not murdered in the physical sense( well not death but there was a physical death per se) but I do feel that I was murdered in a mental and spiritual sense..
Some of my attackers never felt remorse ... some did....
As a child of GOD , I am supposed to forgive them but I have not forgotten..I do not believe I ever will....

The way I finally handled this situation in my own life was like this.

I had a hard time forgiving these people..So I made a list of everyone that has ever hurt me to the least and ended with the worst/ last...

By the time I got 1/2 way through my list , I was crying so hard that I felt I couldn't continue but something amazing happened...

The HOLY SPIRIT came to me and helped me.

The question posed to me was " If forgiveness is too much right now , why don't you give it to GOD? "

I thought about that a whole minute and its like that made sooo much sense ... What we cannot handle , GOD can...

I wanted to forgive these people with all I had but I was in a deep place and I asked for forgiveness for my inability to forgive..I aked GOD to help me .. To take the burden off of me..

After that , I had an amazing amount of peace.. It was AWESOME....I was able to forgive these people ( over time but not long) and now I pray for them all,....

Once I realized that only GOD can handle these situation , I was then free to be at peace and forgive...

So to answer your question.. Yes , you should forgive ..Get the peace you need from GOD and the understanding and the rest will follow...As for forgetting.. I am not sure but I do not believe the BIBLE says anything about forgetting..Sometimes not forgetting is a good thing...It helps us to better oursleves and others..

Also , as closing .. We should forgive because JESUS died to save us and thus we should forgive those that hurt us...

and that i imagine it become Shakespeare who reported "to err is human, to forgive divine". So in case you particularly attempt to be God-like, then definite you forgive. How? i wager it particularly is component of believing that God has a plan for each body, even although you may't understand what that is. Forgetting will be harder and that i ask your self if perhaps which will be defined compared to forgetting the position you position your vehicle keys, yet forgetting your anger and transferring on.

God forgives multitudes of sins. The bible likens his forgiveness to casting something in the sea. It's lost, and he doesn't go searching for it. Once God has forgiven you of a sin, no matter how serious it is, he does not bring it back to memory as something to throw back in your face.

You have to forgive others in order for God to forgive you of your own sins.

It's his place to judge all men anyway. Not ours. Even though its tough, we have to let go of things. So we should still forgive and forget, because it's what our loving heavenly father would do.

God tells us to forgive, and that is true. But forget? Where does it say that? But capital punishment is scriptural so that people CAN forgive and forget. Once the perp is dead, he's best forgotten And if you forgive first, it won't eat at your own soul.

But God does promise that if you repent, HE will forget your sins.
Cool, huh?

i think that if that were the case, the person may feel that he/she doesnt care because they feel that noone will ever understand/care/forgive them again. God would of course forgive them in hopes that one day they would realize that He is there for them, and He was through it all. not in anyway to justify what they have done, but to help them realize that they were never alone, just confused and now they can change, because there is a place for them now.

It says in Matthew that if your brother wronged you to be the first to FORGIVE or he will take you to court and and take your money but God never told us to FORGET!!!
