The new law against spanking in California. Was it Anold that proposed bringing this into force?

If not who was it?

What limitations are there, or is it a complete ban?
What is the punishment for breaching this regulation?

Some legislator introduced it, but Arnold agrees with it. - Sally Lieber is her name.

Personally I think it's ludicrous. Spanking is warranted on certain occasions, depending on the child. Not every child needs to be spanked. Others need a little more in the way of discipline just because of their nature. There's only so much reasoning you can do with a child!

Far be it for any legislator to tell me what and how to do with my child as long as it's within reason. No one said anything about 'whipping a 6-month-old,' as she said, which is completely insane and not what the legislation is about. By saying something like that you are TOTALLY taking it out of context. The language here is key - 'beat' and 'whip' have much more negative connotations than 'spank.'

Personally I think they should worry more about pedophiles, people who abuse or neglect their children, and those who commit horrible crimes against children, not the parents who are loving and repsonsible and might give their kid a well-placed swat once in a while for bad behavior. No one said they were breaking out a whip or a belt and whacking away with no reason.
