USB flash drive help needed. When I plug it in my pc, it's not comming up with a drive id.?

Question

I'm plugging my new flash drive into my pc, but it's not comming up with a drive id so that I can save my items on it. This flash drive works fine on my pc at home, but here at work, it's not showing up a drive id. It does come up with an icon at the bottom that allows me to click on to safely remove the device, so the pc is recognizing the drive. Any ideas?

I've tried to go into the device manager and the USB drive isn't showing up there at all. No software was included, unless it's on the drive itself. I've also tried deleting the driver that is on there and tried getting the computer to search for updated drivers.

Sorry, I checked the disk management and it wasn't there. it is showing in the device manager under the USB devices as "Mass Storage Device".

Try changing the drive letter, like this:

Have the drive plugged in

Right click "my computer" on the desktop

Select manage

Go to "Storage" and "Disk management" underneath it (it's a branch of it)

Your drive should show up here

Right click on the drive that is the USB port with the drive in it (it might be called just "mass storage device")

Select "Change drive letter and paths"

A menu will pop up. Select change"

Pick a new letter for this drive, one that is NOT YET used for any other drive, like Q or something.

Reboot your computer

Go to My Computer and see if it shows it and if it does try to open it from there.

there isnt any softwear that u need mine did that b4 but i forget how i changed it im at my school computer ill edit this when i get home so that i can figure out how i did it

i'm sure you have to dowload the software that came with the USB flash drive
