most humane society will help with a discount certificate and l think that the other testicle will come down shorty but if l were you, take him and to be fix. he is old enough. And there are some vets that won't charge a lot so you can look also in your phone book and call a few places. l do not know if this is high or not but l paid 70.00 dollars for my female. all l know is that l want it done at any price. l love my dogs but they are not going to have no puppies because l feel they are not that good of a breed to bring in this world more babies .

I don't think I would trust a humane society to do the job but then I'm very particular about the care my dogs get. I know it's a lot more expensive because they have to do rather major surgery to recover it. And they have to try to find it hidden in the abdominal wall. Often the internal testicle is shrunken or otherwise deformed which makes the job twice as difficult. Just make certain that you have it done quickly before it develops problems.
Edit: To the above poster: Are you certain they got the undescended testicle? For that price I would be willing to bet that they DIDN'T. SCARRY!!!!!!!

I am not sure on the cost, but yes I agree with everyone else, you need to get him to a vet and get this situation checked out and im sure they will want prompt surgery. But as far as it being a Jack Russell , I have several of them and it will calm them down somewhat, but not totally. The calmness however does come with age. So round about 3 to 4 years you will see a difference in the activity of him. Good Luck

hi...we have the same problem with our GSD, he was monorchid as well. I called our vet and they told us that when we make the apt. to have him fixed, to let them know it is going to be a spay not a neuter. it is more invasive than a neuter, but they will basically treat him like a female and go in through the abdomen to get the undecended testicle out. I asked about the price, cuz I am not rich either, and I was told that it will cost $225 same as if I brought in a female. and yes they do calm down a little bit after getting fixed.

They can still easily fix hem and yes he will calm down some. They wont charge much more for the undescended testicle. Shop around on pricing, vets go by weight. My vet was going to charge $230 to fix my 11# dog. Another vet here only charged$78. I think my regular vet (who is great) just doesnt want to spend all her time doing spay/neuters so she makes them very expensive. Some animal shelters will offer low cost certificates and refer you to a place that will do them cheaper.

in order to fix him you are going to have to have surgey to remove the testical from one of two places. the abdomin or groin. i had one of my greyhounds have this problem and he had to have surgery to remove it. it cost somewhere around $300. our greyhound didnt calm down at all but maybe its different in different dogs.
