I go tomorrow on Tuesday to get my braces and I've had spacers in for two weeks. I have 3 that are the rubber and one metal one, well, the metal one had gotten loose and started poking into my gums and really irritating them. Every time I bit down the way my teeth fit together my bottom tooth was putting direct pressure on that spacer. Anyway, last night it came out. Since I go tomorrow will this be a major problem? I don't want to get fussed at...and the ortho isn't in town today.

If you have a space there, it won't be a problem. As long as the spacer did it's "job" of creating a gap in between those teeth you won't get fussed at. Check to see if you can double or triple a piece of floss, and pop it through without any tightness, you are good to go! If you can't get floss through (single or double) then you need to call and tell them so they can put another one in. They used a metal spacer because the rubber ones wouldn't go in before, which means your contact on that tooth was super tight to start! So make sure it's open now! Good luck!

The spacers are used to create a space for the "BANDS" to go on, not more spacers.

Well since you are getting your braces on tuesday there is nothing you can really do. Just tell your ortho your spacer came out. The problem with that is when the dentist puts in the permanent metal spacer he will have a harder time getting it in. A few days before I got my braces in one of my rubber bands fell out. When I got my braces in she had a really hard time fitting that spacer in and had to force it in. Good luck you will be fine.

He will put the spacer back in tomorrow before he puts the braces on. He should have given you some wax though to use in case one did start poking your gums.

Don't panic, if you can't get to your Ortho today it'll wait. You're teeth move fairly slowly, so it might be sore getting fixed up, but as i recall it's usually uncomforatble anyway.
I think you should really explain how it came out and why it was uncomfortable when you do get to see him/her, if it's going to happen every time it wont be good for your braces or your teeth. If you have sharp pokey bits of brace get them to give you some wax.

You will be fine. Spacers make it so the bands can slide down easier.

Just tell the ortho at your appt. that it came out. There's nothing you can do until then and it's not going to hurt anything. Don't worry about it.
