I need to convert text documents to PDF, convert images into pdf, append/extract/edit PDFs, and most importantly COPY TABLES from PDF into EXCEL that preserves the table format. Please answer with software you already have used. Thanks!

I rely on Expert PDF, mainly as a printer/converter preferring to use PDF Annotator for mark ups etc but the editing features are impressive nevertheless - but don't take my word for it. Here are user opinions at Download.com

I have used OpenOffice (free download) to convert text and images into PDF. As far as editing PDFs, or copying from a PDF into Excel, I am not sure if OpenOffice does that, but it would be worth a shot since its free.

Check out Foxit Software. It has a free reader that is just as good and much faster than Adobe, and about 1/5 the size. It also has an Editor, which isn't free, but isn't expensive. I use the Reader and the Editor and recommend them.

wal mart sells a .pdf program for 20 bucks.
