Because when they're in college they have to write down wat the professors say during their lectures. If they would write nicely they'd concentrate more on writing than on the lecture while having to write down important info. Doing that for too many years changes their hand writing.

I think this is a habit from the college years. Think of long days that you have to memorise all the secrets and unknowns about human body. Dont forget catching up with your arrogant teacher never waits for you. And the following years, you have to write pages for anything you want from the hospital management.blablabla

The prescription part has a lot of Latin and "short hand" codes for the pharmacists. And they learn to make their signature difficult to copy... I could never be a doctor cause you can read my signature!!!!! Even if I use my flipper!

Gosh!! not all. most of them. my oarents are doctors. my father has a very bad handwriting, but my mom doesnt. :)

Part of the issue is that a lot of what they write on prescriptions is either abbreviated or in latin, or both

They do this on purpose so nobody can copy it and write they're own prescriptions.
