Try using petroleum jelly under a regular moisture lotion such as Suave. Make sure to use unscented moisture lotion as scents can make dry skin itchy - even if you don't normally itch with scented lotions. Also, use an unscented, uncolored soap in the shower/bath such as Ivory. Petroleum jelly is what's recommended by most doctors for extremely dry winter skin. You don't have to put a lotion over it but if you don't, you'll feel a bit greasy. You can also use a baby oil gel over wet skin such as when you just get out of the shower/bath. I am a diabetic and suffer from dry skin year round but especially in the winter. These tips have worked wonders for me.

we r all forgetting our ancient science of Ayurveda which has many remedies made from herbs and vegetables available at home... your problem is very simple one... apply coconut or mustard oil all over your body including your face and neck... rest for 45 minutes and take your regular bath with moisturising soap... do this before the onset of winter and till the end of winter. But for lasting result follow this as weekly bath throughout the year

Donot bathe hot water as it results in drying of the skin and itchy. Petroleum jelly's protect from losing moistuture of the skin.Hence they are of limited use.Glycerine is the best humectant. Any brands containing glycerine with aloevera &vitamin E is the most preferable

I don't know what's available in India, but I've found Eucerin to be an excellent, effective moisturizer. It's a bit greasy, but it works. Good luck!

I would say Avenno from J&J is the best especially in Winters. Helps to keep your skin moist. We even use it for our childrens ( 5 and 1).
Hope this helps.
