Get a good pair of walking shoes or cross-trainers, learn a few stretches, and walk. That is one thing that can be done anywhere, and it does help.

Some malls even try to open their doors early so walking groups can use them when it's wet and miserable outside, or too hot (like last summer was).

First you need to assess your current level of fitness and what you want to achieve. Losing weight requires a different program to building muscle. You dont want to start a program and then quit in 2 weeks because it doesnt work, its pointless. But here's one I made up for you, it is for improving cardio fitness, losing weight, and increasing body core strength, toning muscle. You can alter it if its too hard or easy.

Mon: 15 stretching
15 walk or jog
5-10 min skipping
3 x 20 sit-ups
3 x 20 push-ups
3 x 5 chin-ups
15 min stretching

Wed: 15 min stretching
45min swim or cycling OR
5 x 3min on punching bag with 2 min rest between rounds
3 x 20 sit-ups
3 x 20 push-ups
3 x 5 chin-ups
15min stretching

Fri: 15 min stretching
40 min circuit training
sit-ups, push-ups
15 min stretching

You can increase the time or repetitions after 2 weeks or so, and if you start to get bored, you can change activities (swimming, cycling, tennis, squash, jogging, aerobics etc)

depends on how involved you want to get, or how out of shape you are.
I rarely exercise, and am 25 lbs overweight for my height, so I should more often.

What I did when I decided to start off exercise is I went to wal-mart and looked at all of the workout videos. I chose the one that looked like something I would be interested in, one that I could do.

Don't get me wrong I have alot of ones that I have used and not liked, ones that I can not even do.

The one that is my personal favorite is Leslie Sansone's Power Walk. You walk in your own home, and do all kinds of things. You can 'walk' 1,2,3 miles. It's so easy, and like any video you can shut it off/pause it anytime you want.
I have those Thai-bow ones, rarely use them, and pilaties, used never, too hard for me.
I saw a 'dance' workout video at wal-mart, might check it out. Just because I love to dance around the house, and with those kinds you can modify them to your liking.

try 8 minute abs... you will start to see real results in a week... no BS... it's tough but just hang in for a week and you'll be glad you did.
