1. JC Chavez - He won championships in three weight divisions with over 30-title fight wins during his 12yr championship reign.
2. Salvador Sanchez - 23 years old when he died. Sanchez defeated Danny "Little Red" Lopez for the WBC featherweight title. Went on to make 9 successful defenses. The fighters he beat were the quintessential "cream of the crop". His biggest test/achievement was his KO of Wilfredo Gomez.
3. Ricardo Lopez - Won over 20 title fights and retired without losing an amateur or professional bout.
4. Ruben Olivares - In his first 60 fights, he was undefeated. Won championships at bantamweight and featherweight (twice).
5. Carlos Zarate - Talk about getting off to a good start, he was 45-0 (44 KOs). Made 8 defenses of the 118-pound title. Knocked out fellow 118lb titlist, Zamora in 4 rounds in a unification fight that wasn’t sanctioned. Zamora was 29-0 (29 KOs) when these two met.
6. Marco Antonio Barrera - The man has been fighting top notch guys for over 10yrs. Early in his career, was a thrill to watch in toe to toe battles. In my opinion his fight with Kennedy McKinney is often overlooked, its a must see.
7. Vicente Saldivar - Defended his bantamweight title 8 times from 64 til 67, retired, decided to return and won it again two (2) years later.
8. Erik Morales - WBC titles in 3 divisions with 18 title fights.
9. Miguel Canto - The WBC flyweight king 1975-79 with fourteen consecutive defenses. In 94 Ring magazine ranked him the second greatest flyweight in history.
10. (tie) Daniel Zaragoza - Daniel won the WBC 122 pound title on three occasions with a career that includes 20 title fights.
and Humberto Gonzalez who was a champion and a monster at 108lbs.
