Before giving up, make a list of the times you always smoke at. Eg: after dinner, when you wake up in the morning, when you get mad, etc.
Then, beat those craving points and put a tick after them after you beat them. Another important thing is to remove all signs of cigarettes from the house. Lighters, ash-trays, cigarette boxes etc.
Use the patches.
You will become a little ill after a few days without smoking. This is because ure body has to sweat out the toxins that are in ure body. You will also cough a hell of a lot to remove the horrible tar thats in ure lungs. After a week, you will be able to taste and smell like you cant imagine! Its great!
Dont use junk food as a substitute for the smoking.

Congrats! I hope you do it! I was forced into quitting because I got sick and couldn't breathe and don't want to be on oxygen 30 years from now... But anyways, here's a little tip that helps me when I get a craving. I inhale just like I'm taking a hit off of a cigarette and exhale just like I'm smoking. It kinda helps me. Maybe it will help you a little bit. Not only do you inhale the fresh air instead of the smoke, but the deep breathing has a calming effect. Good luck! Hope you get more tips!

I quit smoking eight years ago. Being successful is all about limiting your access to cigarettes. Some simple things that helped me were:
1) not shopping at the store where I usually bought them
2) not going out to my usual hang outs (this was back when you could smoke at clubs and restaurants)
3) avoiding friends who I knew wouldn't be supportive of my decision
4) not keeping cash on me so that I couldn't just buy a pack
5) Never going in the check out line at the grocery store where they keep the cigarettes.
6) Paying for my gas at the pump
7) I also had a friend (a former smoker) who I had to be accountable to.
It's not easy, but it is worth it! Best of luck to you!

Always try to remember ...statically speaking the craving last approximately 3 seconds each time until you become accustomed to it. Go Cold Turkey! You are more apt to stay quit!
Go 3 seconds at a time.........It might seem longer but it's not!
Quit almost 6 years ago.
THE VERY BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!
YOU WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS!

i quit about a month and a half ago... first, don't "wait till the end of a pack"... throw it out when you want to quit...
second, i personally don't recommend the patch, the gum, or anything... you need to get off nicotine, and replacing it's source doesn't help... i quit cold, and it's worked fine... the first week i was a bit cranky, but i'm good now, and don't really have cravings very often... when i do crave, i chew regular gum...
and also, tell your friends you're quitting and that you'd like their support, and to not offer you cigarettes or encourage you to start again...

I would say eat sunflower seeds. They are in your mouth, and if you suck all the salt off of them and saver them, they can last a long time. I dont never have and never will smoke but i recently gave up soft drinks, and its really hard, so smoking but be horrible. Do your best and remember that smoking can kill you.
Hope I Can Help!

Try to start an exercise program. Get out and walk with friends even at work. Stick to it and know it can be done. I bought a lot of snack foods like nuts and carrots and chips -- anything I could do to keep my mouth busy. I never used the patches, but my co-workers said they work.

Just QUIT, it's been a year and a half for me, I just told myself I was quitting, and never picked up another one. Mind over matter... I may have been lucky, it was not easy though. Just QUIT.... Good luck!

Take up an activity which will keep your hands busy, its really difficult finding something to do with your hands when you are used to holding a ciggie!;
