I have the same issue with my small dog. I found that feeding her small amounts at a time seems to help rather than filling the bowl and watch her empty it and then throw up minutes later. Good luck!

My two small dogs had problems with eating and drinking. They would often eat or drink quickly and then throw up. After some research, I learned that this is sometimes a result of air getting built up in the stomach from eating too fast. There is also some sort of issue with the esophagus of some small dogs that causes reflux. What I did was raise the food dish off of the floor a few inches so that they are not leaning down to eat. This allows the air to escape easily while they eat. Neither of my dogs has thrown up since I did this. You might also try making your dog be still after eating/drinking for a few minutes to let things settle. If it is an esophagus problem, you should try gently massaging his/her throat after she eats.

Anytime a dog eats or drink very fast, it'll throw up. The only way that has worked for me throughout the years is to have plenty of water and food (free feeding) available at all time. She'll eventually stop this behavior.

Place a big heavy rock(too big and heavy for the pup to remove)in the bowl with the food so the pup has to take the time to eat around it. Some people have also had luck spreading the food out on a towel as this also slows the "scarfing" down. Good luck!

also i found out that my small dogs were allergic to the brand of dog food i was feeding them.
I went another brand and they are doing better. But she is probaly eating to fast. So you have some really good answers here.
If problem really consists i would call or go to my vet and have her checked out to be on the safe side. Is she due to go in for a check up anyway. Good luck Gwynn

Do you keep food down for her to eat whenever she is hungry so she can help herself? If not maybe she needs to get fed a bit more sounds like she is really hungry when you feed her. Or maybe she has a tapeworm or something, they can make a dog really hungry, if all else fails ask the vet

She is bolting down her food and causing a lot of air to be swallowed. You have to slow her down some what. Try elevating her food dish so when she eats her head is not down low.
You can also get a large rock (one that she can't get in her mouth) and put it in the dish so she has to eat around the rock. This makes her slow down also. If she is wolfing down her food so fast, she might not be receiving enough food to satisfy her. If she is not over weight you might increase the amount of food she is getting.

You should try putting only a small amount of food (a few pieces) in your dogs bowl at a time. Or you could give her food as a treat. Have her do her tricks (sit, down, shake, etc) then you can reward with her regular food instead of treats.
