Anyone knows? As in how high a temperature can a bee stand before dying? Oh and wasps too, if possible.

Thankies.

Bee's will cook wasps invading their hive.Bee's make heat with their bodies, they say 117 degrees and wasps can only handle 115 degrees.

Why would you boil a bee? That's not cool.

As a bee is made of several different structures, you'd have to boil the liquid in them or whatever. Solids don't boil too well.

Bees and wasps maintain a constant temp in their nests by fanning their wings. I would assume they die at about the same temp as humans, since they like their nests about room temperature (I mean, our room temperature) and they hibernate when it's too cold. It's more about how hot they are internally--whether it shuts down their wee bee nervous systems. Like, if a human gets a fever and gets brain damage. A human can be in 106 degree weather and not die, but if he/she has a 106 internal temperature, it causes serious brain damage.

It's all about how well the bees regulate their internal temperature. Humans can stand 140 degree temps for less than a minute. So...I'll say 140 degrees for a bee.

But don't heat up the bees. They're nice little suckers if you don't get them all hot and angry.

Research carried out by Mitler & Mess (1945) showed:

At 61 degrees the bees began to perspire heavily.
At 72 degrees they complained bitterly.
At 88 degrees they requested to be given the 'last rights'.

Hope this helps.
