Yes. Religious people actively work at altering the religion to fit the times. They learn psychology and new techniques to get it in the children. If Christians have to, Jesus will become an advanced alien from the planet Heaven, that visited earth and used super technology to heal people.
Christianity is always a single generation from destruction, but they have the skills and the resources to keep it going for ever. Even if they have to resort to killing all educators in their own society, they will do it., if they feel threatened enough. There is no reason why 100 years from now we couldn't be electrocuting witches, gassing homosexuals and locking up atheist. Each generation brings about a whole new bunch of people. That's why in the year 2007 we still live with primitive superstition.
As a matter of fact, the increase in technology can actually help the religions implant their superstitions much easier into peoples minds.
FEAR will always exist. Religions dont need proof, nor evidence to exist. they just need fear and ignorance of the current world.
Increase in technology simply means that 'angels' will become real (holographic images), fire from heaven (lasers from satellites). Technology only makes religions more believable to the uninformed. All they need is ignorance. And even today , thats what they work at to cultivate.

If Christians were to go back in time to the early centuries C.E., they would not recognize their own religion. It started out gnostic, with Christ being a spiritual, rather than a literal, historical figure. If they went back to about a thousand years ago, they would be burned at the stake for some of the things they teach about the Bible! Christianity is a chameleon, changing with the times, with new denominations being added constantly as old ones break up into disagreeing factions. Pastors may teach that Christianity was once a single, unified church, but this is not true--it has always been divided, until now there are thousands of churches, none of them in total agreement with the others.
Two thousand years from now, Christianity will have changed so much that it will be unrecognizable from today's versions--so much so, that it will effectively have evolved into a different religion, or several religions, with entirely different teachings, but still revolving around the central theme of a dying, resurrected deity who promised to return to gather up the faithful. This is a very common religious theme, centered on the "death" of the sun in winter and its "resurrection" in spring, going back to well before Christianity existed, and so set in the collective human experience that it is not likely to go away any time soon; it simply changes the form of expression.

Your question is fundamentally flawed from the beginning. First of all there will be no 2000 years from now (at least from our current reasoning). Jesus will come again and take those who believe in him, later there will be a 1,000 year reign. After this Satan, his angels and followers will be cast into the lake of fire. God will make a new Heaven and new Earth. But hey, thanks for asking your loaded question none the less! :-)
Response:
Deazone, I must admit you have a very good point regarding what my response would be if you had posed the same question to me 2,000 years ago. When Christ’s followers saw him ascend into heaven they waited in that spot for quite some time thinking he’d be right back. However the end times have not been more relevant than what it is today. Some of our headline news looks as if had been taken right out of the book of Revelation. On May 14th 1948 Israel became a nation for the first time in 19 centuries. The prophet Ezekiel wrote, “In the LATTER YEARS thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people…” (see Ezekiel 38:8). I put emphasis on the words “latter years” as in the end times before Christ’s return. Jesus even used an analogy of the fig tree to represent Israel. “…When ye see these things begin to come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.” (see Luke 21:29-31). Also if we look at Revelation 13:16 we see that the mark of the beast shall be “IN their right hand” (KJV). Now take a look at this web site: http://www.verichipcorp.com/ I find it very interesting that ours is the very first generation to have this sort of technology available. Ours is also the first generation to be capable of becoming a moneyless society. So, the “The fact of the matter is…” Jesus WILL be coming back within a matter of a few decades or even years (or even months for that matter). And, I might point out that there is no “lack of evidence or proof of God” if you want to see it and acknowledge it. I would highly recommend a book by Peter and Paul LaLonde, called 301 Startling Proofs and Prophecies. Finally, yes, your question IS loaded because you are already making assumptions that there WILL be a 2000 years from now as we know it, that there is NO evidence for the existence of God, and that Jesus WILL NOT be coming back within the next few years. The end is very soon, the Bible gives us signs to look for and they are becoming more evident all the time. God bless you, I hope you take time to think about what I have said here.

We can only evolve if a group of humans are isolated for hundreds of thousands of years or through natural selection which is virtually impossible because of airplanes & knowledge of the whole world. Natural selection is when certain genes characteristics become extinct in a species due to not being suitable in the conditions where the species live. Natural selection is very rare now because of medication and humans living in environments adapted to our means (ie if a genetic trait today makes someone unable to walk can still survive to have a child and pass the defect on whereas when we were living in the wild this would almost impossible). Otherwise humans will only have minor changes in the future to adapt to our already lazy selves. Also there are many factors which could alter our evolution. Technology-human cloning could be possible if so people could also design their own children. Could cure alot of disease even. Humans could be part computer/robot in the future. Not like half metal but micro robots inside us performing like our immune system or other things to help protect and save our inside organs & system we could live forever. I believe if we still live how we do today we will have smaller mouths because alot of processed food. Lower immune system/More medication. Higher rates of cancer due to us consuming alot of chemicals (processed food, medication etc) Less hair/clothing more idependant fingers/allow us. Larger breasts Larger penis. Bigger brains. Taller. Smaller toes. One race (brown).

Lack of proof isn't a problem for the religious. Technological advancement won't really affect it either.
Islam may encounter problems as we begin to colonise other planets as praying to Mecca 5 times between Sunrise and Sunset becomes complicated when it's on another planet.

The major "religions" will survive only if they change and grow to meet the needs of future generations.
If we have technology & religion now, why wouldn't we later on?
No matter how great we become, there will always be a need for connecting with the Divine.

What are you talking about. Jesus is going to return soon to take his bride home.Jesus will be coming very soon the way this world is going. Jesus when he returns will rule for 1000 years, and after that God will burn up this earth and there will be a new Heaven and a new earth that God will create. So sorry to burst your bubble, in 2000 years this world is not going to be here, so dream on.

The things that are of God will sustain. Those that aren't will fade and pass. Eg the family unit will long outlast the Nazi party. Evil things have their day but the real things of God, Love from a friend, forgiveness, heroism from strangers, will last forever. God can't reveal himself because we would all act like children when the parents are home. He wants to know what we are really like. He will treat us like we have treated others Trust me

yes we will likely to survive another 2thousands years or even more...if .....nuclear war didn't wipe-out most of world population...and didn't stop us from doing with more technical advancement....
as far as matter of religion is concerned... i believes.....
that religion will survive and will be mainstream religion.. which defines its rules in rational format and in logical format.......
as far as i know Christianity....they cant never had any logical proofs..so Christianity will fell down......
regarding your last part of question.....we may be living in a conditions like cave-era after 2k years... as it depends primarily on one thing.....how much destruction we earned for our-self.....by our technology....like nuke bombs, global warming...ozone destruction etc/
regarding last part of your question.....
jesus is dead and he will never come back...
