Does simply yelling "NO!!!" when he does something wrong (like getting up on the dining room table) make any difference? Can I spank him? Put him in his crate? Help!

Don't spank him, he will only be afraid of you and become aggressive. most kittens are naturally rowdy, yelling at him will only make him confused and soon the yelling will just be noise that won't mean anything to him. Get a spray bottle full of water, when he misbehaves, give him a quick squirt. Don't soak him and don't let him know the source of the squirt. Cats generally don't like to get wet and soon he will associate his bad behavior with the unpleasantness of being wet and he'll stop. Get him neutered ASAP, ask your vet how soon, that will help calm him down as well

Calm down---first of all!! If you can't handle this at 6 Weeks old, you need to find this kitty a new home because it's just gettin' started! This is a KITTEN ! THIS is what KITTENS DO! and. . .um, .. yeah, they don't have the attention-span of a gnat! The only thing that may work for jumping onto the dining room table is a spray bottle filled with plain tap water, and spray and say "No!" at the same time. At 6 weeks old, don't expect good results out of this--the kitten is too young to understand--EVERYTHING is playtime to them.

Play with your kitten plenty! It needs that social stimulation to be happy and healthful. Is your kitten ingesting kitten nutrients okay? If no longer, you want to get a bottle and some replace milk, as your kitten isn't totally weaned. 6 weeks is very youthful, yet your kitten nonetheless has a probability to stay a good existence! you also want to get the kitten to the vet to have checks executed, and keep remote from different cats till you're attempting this. as far as replace milk, my kitten likes the Hartz form more suitable than KMR. Get the powdered form, it very last more. and browse each and each of the learning. in the experience that your kitten is ingesting kitten nutrients, you should want to provide some replace milk in a dish for a pair weeks. It has rather some foodstuff that starting to be kittens want.

Hi there...kittens are instinctively curious as well as rambunctious and to better train them we need to provide an environment that is mentally stimulating for them.

To prevent counter/table top surfing consider using double-sided sticky tape as cats dislike having their paws stuck to the tape and soon learn to avoid areas that are unpleasant, which is more beneficial than a water bottle squirt since you can't always be there to supervise your cat. Additionally, if there are food, dirty dishes on the counters while you are away, it's important to clear off the counters and wash dishes when you are training your cat.

Kittens/cats only learn to fear the person who is spanking them rather than understand why they were naughty. The idea is to reward them for behaving well and create aversion techniques to discourage bad behaviours such as the tape method. Cats learn best when they discover things on their own that are not a good idea rather than if we have to directly intervene so they do not associate us directlly.

Kittens claws can be very destructive so trimming them regularly can be helpful as well. Consider first adding a few extra scratching posts/mats with different textures such as cardboard, sisel, carpet and the like scratching posts. Some cats are horizontal scratchers whereas others are vertical so be sure to include both. Here's an instructional video on how to trim cats claws by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for Feline Health:http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/trimming_claws/full_movie.shtml

He is only 6 weeks, so dont spank him. He is still learning his surroundings and doesnt understand wrong from right yet.

Only discipline him when you catch him doing something. You can shout NO at him, hiss, or tap his nose. Or simply pick him up, place him down and say NO to him. It takes time for kittens to learn. I got mine at 10 weeks, he is now 6 months and knows not to get on the table when we eat.

Cats are insane. lol There's not much you can do to stop it, unless you want to lock her in a cage all night and you don't sound like the kind of person who would do that thankfully. You can try making a sudden loud noise to frighten her or spray her a bit with water, or a stern voice saying "baaaad kitty" but that is only a deterrent. She's an animal not a human, she doesn't understand that you don't want her on the table or that you have to get up in the morning and need your sleep. She just wants to play. Another cat to keep her company might be helpful but be warned, it can go both ways I swear my cats tag team me! Good luck.

I know this may sound mean but a friend of mine who works for cats rescue, swears by using a water pistol. If the kitten refuses to behave a quick squirt and shouting the word no!! will keep him/her in check. And pretty soon you will just have to say no without having to use the pistol. Be careful around electrical appliances tho!!

Fill a spray bottle with water and give him a squirt when he's doing wrong along with a firm "no". Never leave food on the table or counter to entice him.

I wouldnt put him in a crate or even cat acrrier, he'll eventually learn to be afraid fo those things and wont go in them ever. I would try a spray bottle of water, works for my cat!
