Time Pass Reservation System at Statue of Liberty

A "time pass" reservation system has been implemented by the National Park Service for visitors who plan on entering the monument. (Secondary screening on Liberty Island is required for those entering the monument).

Time passes are available at no cost from the ferry company with the purchase of a ferry ticket. Advance tickets can be ordered (at least 48 hours) by calling the ferry company at: 1-866-STATUE4 or on-line at: www.statuereservations.com

Contrary to previous answers you CANNOT go into the crown of the Statue.
You can only go as far as the pedestal and her feet.
You can see the spiral staircase that did used to be open to the public but it's definately not now and won't be.
The reason is not terrorists it's purely a health and safety issue. The spiral stair case it tiny. It's really small and if a large group of people all snaked behind each other and there was an accident there would be problems.
I asked all the questions as I was desperate to go to the top and I was told there was no way.
If I ever win the lottery I'm off to New York so pass someone a bung to let me get to the top!!

Yup, they recently re-opened the crown to the public. However, they're still barring people from going to the top of the torch if what I've heard is correct.
