i agree with your logic. i smoke GV, and theres only tobacco in it. if we look to the american indians, who did smoke tobacco leaf, they didnt have the problems we seem to be experiencing, ie cancers etc, and we ask why.
the same can be said for tobacco use int he UK, raliegh bought it back in the 1600's, by the 1800's it was common. yet a mere 100 or so years later we see a dramatic rise in smoking related diseases..answer, method of mass production, and the introduction of chemical addditives, liek formaldehyde saltpetre and whatever else. for the long term use of human consumption tests it would have had to be started 100 years ago.. and we know that didnt happen.
ive smoked GV for almost 25 years. (im 50) and compared to similar people, who smoke B&H etc, i have no symptoms of smoking. mind you, i only smoke around 5 grammes a day (10 day to the 50g pack) or 5 b&h... they weigh 1 gramme each) which is by no mean excessive.
i think the watchword is excessive use. its a bit like burgers, i eat around 3 a year, and its not a problem, some folks eat one every day... and the newspapers are full of obese burger addicts.
at teh end of the day, weve all been able to smoke for hundreds of years. its always been expensive, and its never (until now) been a problem. i get a whiff of what some folks are smoking..all i can smell is hot ash... and it tastes disgusting.
break one open, and look at the difference. GV doesnt look like that. personally, its GV all teh time. yes its a pain learning how to roll, and its time consuming... but it saves me a fortune. my wife smokes 20+ a day, it costs her £50 a week, my habit costs me less than 5 quid.

I smoked for 17 years, both types. All I can say to you is that pre-rolled cigarettes made me smoke more often simply because they are siiting in your pack, ready to be lit. When I had to roll them manually, one at a time, I smoked less because I was not always in a situation where it was easily doable.
But the fact remains that with no filters, more chemicals went into my lungs.
I just saw on the news a couple days ago that nicotine in tobacco increased by 11% in the last 5 years. Sounds like the cigarette industry is doing all it can to keep you addicted to the "white coffin nail". My grand father smoked hand rolled cigarettes all his life, ZigZag to be exact and he never had lung cancer... but back then, they must have had un-modified tobacco.
BTW, I smoked my last cigarette on the 3rd of march 2003, 03-03-03. Odd number!!! and it was the greatest victory of my life. My quality of life has increased ten folds. I now smell the mushrooms growing in the forest, the rain when it wets the earth. Food also taste much stronger and better, I do not run out of wind when climbing long stair cases. I'm not trying to convince you to stop because it's something that must come from yourself, otherwise you'll never stop, I'm simply telling the benefits that it brought me. Just to spark a reflection in your mind.

I have been smoking Cigarettes for many years, its a terrible habit and one I wished I had never started. There is NO safe Tobacco, and just because there are no additives does not mean its any safer. I recently started using Filter tips to catch Tar and Nicotine that the attached filter does not catch, and let me tell you cigarettes release alot of Nicotine into your body with every Cigarette you smoke. If you are gonna smoke, and I for one know its a hard Habit to break, Buy you some Filter tips. Most Dollar stores sell them, so they are inexpensive. You will be glad you did in the long run. Protect your health as much as possible..Good Luck

No tobacco has just as much chemicals. But then saying that when you roll a cigarrette they are smaller and thinner than a regular cigerette so I guess you wouldn't be getting as much. A problem with rolling cigarettes though is that the filter is smaller (if you choose to use one) so unless you roll it tight enough (but not too tight) you may be likely to take in more harmful chemicals.

Health wise, they are no better than ready made cigarettes, Camel regulars, non-filters, are supposed to be chemical and additive free, but they still do the same damage. Only good thing about rolling your own is the tobacco isn't taxed and you save a lot money.

Neither tbh, all tobacco has additives, Rolling (loose) can contain Propylene Glycol (moistner), Glycerol (moistener), Calcium carbonate (dunno), Acetic Acid (household vinegar -taste), Cellulose fiber (to help burning), and flavours at under .1%. There are two main problems with smoking, one is the micro particles (similar to diesel paticulate) that get lodged in the lungs physically blocking them and then the chemicals in the tobacco, which is higly poisonous if ingested (related to deadly nightshade, tomato, potato family Solinacae family of plants) If you crave the nicotine you'd e better off buyign a vapouriser, it has pure nicotene and also glycerol to give you a carrier to vaporise

I haven't smoked since new year, "well done me" But roll ups go out all the time, so you smoke less, they can be made thinner as well, so less tobacco, Less tobacco, less nicotine and so on, but hey, if you're happy, crack on x Sorry, forgot to add the damned things keep going out too

Would'nt think so,the same tars and chemicals are in them. The only benefit is that rolling your own is cheaper. Also you tend to smoke less,as it's not always convenient to roll a cig.But no it's not less harmful

Rolling your own is good for two reasons,it slows down the time you have to smoke(busy rolling) and saves you money. Let's face it,your lungs weren't designed to work in a smoky environment.;-)=

Im not 100% sure if ciggies are better or worse than rollies but before I had my last son I smoked rollies with filters, they are far nicer when you get used to them altho you do smell a bit like an old man! I started smoking normal fags after my pregnancy and they taste very "chemically".
