It is our first time in Bangkok and we want to stay at a hotel that would have easy access to transportations for visiting the city. We also want a hotel that's clean and safe without paying too much.

In Bangkok you can stay in a great hotel even if you are on a budget.
I would go with the Landmark or the Davis. Both are solid 4 star to near 5 star hotels. I would say the Landmark is a touch better. The Davis can be as low as about 70$ us and the Landmark starts around 100$.

I may add that you try Asia Hotel, which is just next to Rachathevi Station for transport convenience. Place is not too expensive at about US$40 a room. Check at www.asiarooms.com for information or for more choices.
