Yes, they are both sugars, and so can cause decay. Lactose and glucose are sugars as well and will do the same thing. And sugars provide ready food for bacteria.

Hi John..
Natural sugars like fructose can cause tooth erosion...ie the enamel erodes, whilst this is happening the tips of the teeth become thin and almost see-through. They certainly dont look diseased.
This also a major cause of sensitive teeth.
Brush 3times a day with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and avoid snacking. Fizzy drinks are not recommended.
Have regular checkups,floss and use a mouthwash at night

Actually, all sugars can cause tooth decay. Fructose is no better than sucrose in this respect. It is simply a more complex sugar.

According to my dentist,yes. Fructose is much easier on the enamel than sucrose is,however.;-)=

Well, put it this way. I am a handy man for all trades. That coke, can eat battery acid. If you want to clean your car's battery, use Coke or Pepsi It will clean the battery's acid right off. That's how strong it is!! just think what it does with that battery then your teeth it will eat your teeth.
