Please help, my son does not like school. He wants to go to a different school but its out of our district. He thinks we should do anything we can to make him happy, send him to private school or homeschool. There is only 4 months of school left and we have told him to just finish this year and we will talk about other options this summer. He says no and will make us all unhappy if he has to be unhappy. He played baseball w/ the high school team last year, and knows people. But has a wall up and says he has no friends. He is in threapy , but nothing seems to be working except making us all crazy. What should we do?

just try to let him be himself because if you force anything on teens it just makes them want to pull away more

give him some time, he's a teenager and he thinks making your life life crazy is his job. like you said there are only 4 months left of school and ya'll can discuss options for next year in the summer. keep him in therapy and keep trying to talk to him, don't give him everything he wants or he will keep driving you crazy!

You stated that you have your son in counseling. I wonder if that might be through Community Mental Health? If so, there are addtional resources for you to consider. Love and Logic classes come to mind. It is an invaluable tool when it comes to ending stress and conflict.

Don't let him dictate what goes on in your home. If you give in to this it well only be the first of many demands. Teens can be pills but don't give up being "THE PARENT"....
