Adulterers can be prosecuted for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to life in prison. At least in the great state of Michigan. Does this seem to be the best way to handle adultery?

I realise not all Muslim countries stone people to death for adultery, although we do hear of cases where women have been stoned yet men have been let off. - perhaps this is part of the argument where many Muslim Clerics say that men have no control over their desires, but women do.

I also realise that various laws in the US had various sex acts as being illegal. It is just interesting when you read of a State Legislature passing a new law upholding an old statute, and making something like Adultery a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

Here in the UK, we always get our politicians saying, "Well in America, they do this", or that.. when they are referring to one or two states, where as the rest of the states have completely different and contradicting laws.

I do wonder if we will soon have the Labour party putting this forward as a law to clean up our society.

America should adpot Sharia Law.

Kill adutleries

Kill the homos

ensliave the lesbians, teach them what it is like to be real men and for them to be real women

Kill all Christians who do not convert to Islam.

What can we say?

I don't agree, but there are those who do.

Do we kill all those who express these views?

Michigan may be progressive, they may be backwards. Only time will tell.

I think that your question is rather undocumented. There are few Muslim countries that support this kind of punishment, just like Michigan is for the entire Christian society.

But, adultery is usually misinterpreted. For instance, in 18th century Turkey, a man could have had 7 wives and 8 mistresses, but he wasn't stoned to death. Actually this was a sign of power. For women, on the other hand, if they committed adultery, the punishment was even death by stoning (but not always, they were usually sent to prostitution, and just after several cumulative deeds they were killed). So, as you can see, adultery prosecution is mostly applied to female misconduct.

In my opinion, the ethical laws that govern the entire society will always punish in one form or another people who commit adultery. But, I disagree with the criminal prosecution.

No, neither would be a good option, espcially given that humans like other animals have predetermined reproduction/gene propagation methods. If there were not religious or societal rules, humans would probably mate and if there was an offspring stay together for a year or so. Conversely, a couple might mate but the female might seek another male to father the child... both are very common patterns and fit with human nature.

Proably the best way to deal with "adultery" is on a case by case basis. If it's an occassional fling and both patners are still satisfying each other, no big deal; on the other hand, if one partner is continuely "flinging" and ignoring their partners needs, then the relationship should be re-evaluated.

You forget that once upon a time 48 of the 50 states had such a law, along with laws against sodomy, unnatural sex and 35 states had laws against fornication (unmarried regular sex).

Also, once upon a time, you spent a lot of time in jail for posessing one marihuana seed.

Today you can still lose your house, car, bankaccount if the Federal Government arrests you for any quanity of marihuana they consider to be "for sale." The Federal law is still up to 15 years for that.

This is why states can make it legal for medical use. The Federal law stays in the way and takes over. At that point in time the FBI can start arresting inside a state.

In America, never. In Britain they are rapidly approaching a violent retaliation against the Muslims who are polluting England's streets. It will never happen there either but there will be large scale bloodshed sooner or later as the Muslims are violently sent back to the third world shitholes they came from. I can't wait.

I think that the great state of Michigan has excellently chosen how to handle adultery and I wish all states did the same. Although I'm actually more favorable to stoning.

to stone to death the adulterers........is the not the teaching of Islam...this is misunderstood by some ignorant people.....in Islam there is no punishment for any adultery....if it is taken place with in house.. Islam only deny open sex... in front of so many people..so if you commit adulery alone then no sin and no punishment..if you commit it infornt of masses then it is punishable.

No. Stoning and inprisonment isn't the answer. But infidelity should have severe consequences like divorce and no claim on marital assets.
