Why fight it in court, just pay the fine. If he got the ticket for not wearing a seat belt, he probably wasn't wearing it. So he should have just paid the fine within the time frame and he wouldn't be in this mess.

He want get in trouble if he is in contact with them and does what requested. Most likely they can postpone the court date or if it is a small town handle the matter by phone. If the fine is like $25 dollars go ahead and pay it, Seat belt violations normally don't get dropped. A lot of government highway funding issues are based on stiffness of a states seat belt laws.

Sad to say California is in a whale of hurt right now financially. What is happening is as more homes go into foreclosure the city has less money to run. The city gets money, I hate to say it but it's true, by taxing people by charging fees for seatbelt violations, tickets, parking, you name it. It's a big scam and the city makes literally millions and millions of dollars from it. The city doesn't give a crap about your safety but they wan't your money. A good example is years ago they had speed limits on freeways to 55. They even had tv commercials saying 55 saves lives and now in California lo and behold the raised the speed limit! So what does that mean? The reason they did that is they started losing money in fines. So they raised the speed limit to collect more. Truth is..They don't care about our lives anymore hahahahahha It's a big joke and scam. If you wan't to be totally shocked go buy a book called "The creature from Jeckyll Island" which is how the Federal Reserve system and our own United States government's banking system is ripping it's own citizens off. What I would do is go to court and say that you shouldn't have to pay for the loss of property taxes in California and you know that these chicken shi* fines is just a way to tax the poor American people some more. These cops, some are nice but I hate to say it most are just hired tax collectors. I could never look at myself in the morning if I had that job of having to take money from people day in and day out. But those cops want their retirement fund and benefits so it's to hell with us. Get the book you'll see.

First, never miss court. However, if he has to, he should go as soon as possible to have himself added to the court docket, or he should just pay the fine. Many times you can pay traffic fines via mail and the court will accept payment as a "no contest" plea and a physical appearance in court is not necessary. Call the court clerk in your jurisdiction to find out if this is possible.

That would be up to the court to decide. Of course if he had just sent in the amount of the fine he wouldn't have to worry about going to court.
Does he have access to a phone? Why doesn't he call the court and see what his options are? Or is counting on you to do all that for him?
They could issue a bench warrant for his failure to appear as ordered of course.

He should just pay the ticket. Then he wouldnt need to go to court. If he doesnt show up for court then they will issue a bench warrant. The best thing to do is to pay the ticket today or else just miss school tomarrow to go to court.

what state is that? you HAVE to go to court just to pay a seat belt fine? that sounds strange. but if that is the law, and he is to appear, by law, then he should go, or be prepared to deal with more serious charges.

He won't get in any more trouble, as long as he does in fact send
the paperwork they have requested. Maybe proof that he is actually "away at school"
