There is only one truth that will fit in the Truth shaped void in all of us. Yes we all know when we encounter, "Pure Truth", because it is the only thing that fits like a hand in a glove. There are many things that will give you a "Sense of Truth", but Pure Truth is not about the senses. Pure Truth is where you came from and where you are going and most important right where you are in the moment, if you can stay in the moment long enough to reconize it. Until you have experienced the Truth in yourself for even a moment, you will have a hard time just being still and listening to God or Truth which is the same thing. Your natural mind along with the Earthly influences will constantly be pulling you into yesterdays and tomorrows. Just be still and experience reality and let God run the show from here. Don't move until you know that you know you are on the path that has been laid out for you since before the foundation of this Earth and the human experience. PEACE!

No one ever has or ever will come back to proove if Christians, or Muslims, Jews, or any other religion has been deluding themselves for thousands of years.
All anyone has to go on is writings by very superstitious people who lived in the days when every tiny movement was controlled by omens and signs. Not very reliable.
As for me, my belief is that I'll return to nature like all other living things here on earth. We're all heading in the same direction.
Sorry, one shot is all you'll get. Be the very best person you possibly can because once we're in the hole, all that we leave behind is the memory that others have of us. Make sure the memories are pleasant ones.

Yes. And I can tell you why, how, and all that. Once in a while there is an event that occurs in the life of a true Christian. A prayer could have been answered, or something that was hoped for could come about, or the typical and just about everyday occurance of non-believer's - even those much studied- fail to understand the scritpures. They might be loads smarter than I am, and yet they can't do it! I would laugh if it wasn't so serious.

So what I was getting at : at those times when God proves himself through his word, you can remember your confidence mounting. In Christianity that's called 'edification.' That's when we are sure, and that's when we need to remember what it is that keeps us going in this walk of faith.

That was actually a good question, thanks. ( ;

Yes, It is called FaItH. We know that the BIBLE was written over a 1600 year period by more than 40 writers. It is divided into two sections called Testaments. The New TEstament was written to lead those of us after Christ's death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. The Old Testament wqs written for the Jewish Nation prior to Christ's ascension. ALL are now able to be saved in this world by obeying HIS WORD and becoming Christians. We are GOD's Children, brothers and sisters of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His coming was announced about 1400 years prior to HIS COMING. There is no delusion in Christianity. GOD's BIBLE has stood the test of Time and TRUTH. HE is our FATHER! Read, study, and obey HIS WORD so that you too may be among the saved at the Judgment! Have a great week.

I definitely know that I'm not deluded when it comes to God. I know that He is real. I don't just believe it -- I know it.

One reason why I know it: whenever I've been in true need, He's always answered my prayers whenever I've called upon Him.

I'm talking about bad situations that, logically speaking, I had no business getting out of. Situations in which I was left with no course of action whatsoever, other than prayer.

It's hard to explain or illustrate, but trust me when I say that God exists --- there is no other explanation for these hopeless situations that, through God's presence, I was able to get out of.

The interesting thing about "deluding" oneself is that we can all be said to do it. The human brain is hard-wired to believe something, to erect a background set of assumptions about the the world. This set of assumptions is erected based on information that is seldom tested, and impossible to fully confirm. We operate on a sort of mixture of Heisenberg's and Godel's ideas of uncertainty and unprovability.

What do we know for certain? Everything depends upon our brains processing input from our senses by means of memory and reasoning. Our brains are structured to create polar opposites and biases, we can't fully rely on our senses, and our memories are notoriously inaccurate. As for reasoning, how many of us actually use logic to arrive at our opinions?

Since we cannot know for certain that what we believe is "true" in any absolute sense, perhaps we ought to all exercise a bit of patience with our fellow humans, and try to learn from them, taking what we find positive from their belief systems and adding it to our own.

Of, course, I can't be sure of that.

Absolutely. A Christian should have a personal relationship with God. The very name Christian refers to those who by faith are assured of their salvation provided through the atonement and resurrection of Christ. It is by faith we say we are new creatures without this faith we would not be Christians.

Ok lets say for just one sec some are right and God does not exist. Well the worst that happens to us all is we die and go to the grave, but what if all us who are saved is right and God and Jesus are real. The best thing that will happen to us we go to heaven and the worst to all who are not saved will go to hell as Jesus taught.

Just because God has not shown Himself as real in your life, does not mean that He does not reveal HImself to others. You are deluding yourself.
