You don't need a dog that small. They tend to cost a lot more than a larger dog *even larger examples of the same breed* and have huge medical problems. If you want a small dog, go for a chihuahua from either a rescue or a REPUTABLE breeder. Chis are the smallest breed, though the smallest dogs are actuallly yorkies in Japan, but that's due to gross inbreeding so steer clear. Thing is, there are a lot of people breeding poor examples of chis that have longer legs or are in general, just too big for the breed. Also, you want a small dog that stays cute? You can't be carrying it around in your sweater. Let it walk anywhere it can and only carry where it shouldn't walk, and in all truths, you shouldn't take it where it can't walk.
I'm a fan of fluffy dogs, so I like poms. If you want something smaller, go for a long-hair chuhuahua or if you want something more elegant a papillon. Heck, just go check out the toy breeds on the AKC site and see what you like. Don't buy anything that is estimated to be smaller than the standard. That means no teacup/pocket/tiny toy ANYTHING.

The dog in the picture is a Pomeranian. Chihuahuas are great too. I have five now, and they are very loyal, loving, protective, great little watch dogs, graceful, alert, compact, swift moving little dog with saucy expression, fun to dress up, not only because they get cold so easily, but that's why you normally, see them with some type of clothing on, mine love it and it's so cute, they love to be held and cuddled, they have terrier like qualities of temperament, they're small, but can be quite tough, and you can take them with you almost anywhere you go.

Let me get this straight you have a shiba-inu and you want a small dog like a pom or something like that right? dont do it . that shiba is likely to kill a small dog . they will not get along as poms are very snippy little dogs and they dont get along with much other than their own breed . I would not do it . that dog (the tiny one ) would try to be dominant and the big one would kill it cause shibas are also very dominant. good luck and I hope I helped.

It is a very cute pom. But the top of its head is very out of proportion to the rest of the head. I have to wonder if the poor pup has hydrocephalus.
