My daughter is 2 and a half and was well on her way with using the potty. Over the past few days she has started going to the washroom in her underwear over and over again...is this normal?

It's really common. Is there something new going on in her life? That can play a big factor in potty training regression. (new sibling, home move, etc...) Little ones don't know how to talk about it but display their anxiety in different ways. And sometimes our small angels just get sooooo busy playing that they hold it until they can't make it to the potty.

it does happen, sometimes when they start to get a cold or something too can trigger it. Dont do the all upset mommy thing. Just re-encourge her to go on the potty and maybe throw in there a little reward (m&ms, money, chips, whatever works) when she does go on the potty.

sounds like she's looking for a little more attention - give it to her and her behavior will change. Maybe you started the potty training a bit early. We waited until our kid was almost 3 and we never had a problem.

It is not unusual at all (when stressed children tend to regress). New baby in the family on its way? Most of the time children spontaneously outgrow this in a short time. If it lasts, however, consult a psychologist or psychiatrist.

This is usually a sign of a urinary tract infection. I work in a pediatrics office i have seen this many times. I would take her to the doctor as soon as you can. Not always does a UTI come with the pain. It is usually caused by improper cleaning. They are 2yrs old the want to independent and do it them selves.

Yes it's normal - the rule of thumb for getting preschoolers to do anything is "two steps forward, one step back". Hang in there!
