Usually the best place to start is with your primary care physician. They can usually treat a variety of conditions without you needing a referral to another physician. They may refer you to physical therapy if it is a problem relating to the musculoskeletal system. They may draw blood work to rule out any kind of inflammatory process such as rheumatoid arthritis.
