Even if I set the crock pot on LOW, a few hours later, I will find a crispy, burnt area on the food, around the edges. Do I need more liquid in the pot? Is the crock pot just running too hot?

I don't think adding more liquid is the trick, nor is having a full crock-pot. I used both of mine this weekend, made Italian Wedding Soup, and Chicken Cacciatore. Some of the veggies in the soup settled to the bottom of the crock-pot, got stuck, and started to burn... and the sauce from the Chicken does the same.

Both crock-pots are 'new' with in 5 years, and both were full. My only suggestion is to stir it once or twice an hour. I think my crock-pots have 'hot-spots', and even on low or warm cause things to burn.

I use a crock pot all the time on low. Never burnt anything. Maybe you need to add more liquid to whatever you are cooking.

Foods that require less liquid tend to do that when cooked in a crock pot....try stirring....that will help with the sticking.

depends what you are trying to cook, but yes, I always add water or beef/chicken stock, or if it a roast beef, then red wine.

Good luck! Once you get the hange of it, a crock pot is the best invention!

mine does that also, and its a new one,,,, the edges up around the top,,,,, i think you are suppose to have them totally full,,,, dont know if that will help,,,,,,, i notice it especially with chili,, its hard to always have recipes that completely fill it up,,,,, i just try to stir mine if possible, every hour or so, to keep it from sticking and getting that burnt look (though ive noticed it has never tasted burned ) but your not suppose to open the lid and stir them,,,,,,
