I see parents who spank there kids or punish them if they cry. Thinking that they are only wanting something or being whiney... and not one thought of them being depressed or sad goes through there mind! When I was a young child I expierenced alot of anxiety ( im bipolar my mom didnt know at the time) and when I felt that I didnt know what to do and it was scary! But instead of trying to find out whats wrong with me, my mom would spank me and tell me, " If u dont stop right now I will give u something to cry about!" Little kids are humans too! What gives "adults" the right to be the only ones who could possibly become depressed!?! I remember my mom and others telling me that teen suicide is becuz the teen didnt get what they wanted! Thats true to some sense but u know it really ticks me off how arragont adults can be when it comes to how younger ppl emotions act! lil kids DO have more then 2 emotions ( happyness and whineyness). Im just curious WHY adults think that a child only crys

Hey, i agree with what you are saying! A lot of the time parents don't actually see to what's bothering their kid and therefore just leave it or they brush off what the kid is telling them as if it's nothing, and that is what causes problems such as rebellion, teen suicide, emotional problems, etc! It is extremely important that parents take a little more note of what their children are telling them! All it takes is a little bit of listening and understanding! Be well!:-)

It seems to me that adults try so hard to maintain the illusion that childhood is a happy time of innocence, joy and happiness. Somewhere deep inside, we do know that kids suffer and might be depressed too, but we are reluctant to admit this to ourselves .Losing one of the last illusions (that childhood is smooth and sweet) is painful, but we all have to face the truth in order to achieve a better future for our children.
