he does like you. its just that your response put him in an awkward position to be in as the person willing in the relationship. if you like him, then just apologise for your behaviour earlier. if not, just continue as life is.

He definitly likes you. He probably only said he was joking cos he built up all the courage to ask you and when you said what he really didnt have it in him to ask you again in fear of being rejected. See for him its easy to say it was a joke cos then its not so embarrassing. Give him a little smooch next time you see him or say "yeah i would really like to make out with you"

I will give you an answrer based on the facts you presented, not what you want to hear (no inner meaning intended). You must know this boy's background and tone. Is he usually this bold? Does he usually joke? Do you guys know each other well? Do you love him? Does he know you love him or not? You can make the most accurate decision for you know all the details.

You will find out that most people when they are saying they are just joking are really telling you their true feelings. I think this guy really likes you. He was afraid that you would not feel the same way he feels about you so he pretended he was joking just to see your reaction.

Well he did not joke at all. He simply tried his luck and when you queried he retreated by saying that he is joking. There is a possibility that he might have felt bad but since he was at fault he did not express it. I have a feeling there is no change in the relationship you are carrying on and in case you are interested you can reciprocate and find his reaction.

He was perhaps so nervous that he just blurted out something uncontrolably because he wanted to say something but didnt know what. I actually had a thought like that go through my mind once. I thought someone was really into me and I could say just about anything to them and they would be OK with it, as if we would be on the same page no matter what because it was so obvious and she is still here 15 years later. It was like saying lets not pretend with the small talk.

He could be shielding his true feelings with a joke, or just toying you around to see your reaction. Return him the joke and watch his reaction. THAT will give you the answer you're looking for.

Usually if a guy says he is joking, he isn't...

But it sounds to me like this guy has something else on his mind, like a lot of guy do these days.

If you want a respectful boyfriend, he will be interested in you by trying to communicate with you, knowing things about you, looking in your eyes, and initiating dates...

Hope this helps.

Well lets say he likes you enough to want to make out and probably go the distance with you....girlfriend material...well ask yourself this....If he was interested in dating then why not ask me out opposed to asking me to make out with him.

Sounds like he wants something (more than a date) but it doesn't sound like a lasting relationship.
