I need ideas on how to influence girl's father. I am khatri and girl is Agarwal. My parents are ready but girls parents are very agianst just due to non-agarwal alliance. Her father has stopped talking to her and told her that if you want to marry then go ahead but then forget us. Her father hasn't talked to her from more than 1 month. Please share your ideas how can i influence him so that he can come out of his traditional caste system.

Geez, he sound like a d*ck. There is no changing some people. She'll have to choose you or her family. Good luck.

It is going to take time, perhaps even years. ?Is there another family member who can advocate on your behalf if not so much for you but for your g/f it is so sad and hard for her to be cut off from her family. Respect needs to be earned and that will take time and be based on how you prosper and treat his daughter. One month although it seems a life time is not really , give him the space he needs to sort this out. It is so sad that he is manipulating his daughter with this behavior but you must respect his cultures ways and feeling. Any chance of a joint family meeting, maybe her father might not attend but others may and at least that way they will get to know members of your family and maybe deal with their concerns. Good luck

You are probably not going to change his mind. This is up to her now. If she loves you enough to lose her family then you better be the man she thinks you are. Take good care of her and always treat her with the up most respect. Be understanding when she has depressing moods, because she will miss her family and it well make her sad from time to time.

He probably won't change his convictions. But you must prove him you're a good man, and that his daughter will be happy with you. Then, he'll may change his mind about your relationship.

Maybe try to prove him that you're a good man and have good intentions for his daughter. Show him she will be ok with you and you'll care for her fully.

I don't think that you can overcome deeply held beliefs. I'm sorry.
