There is a guy in my office who has many disgusting personal habits, the worst of which is blowing his nose in a very loud and revolting way EVERY morning. It's absolutely repulsive. I feel that this type of nose blowing should be done in private, and it makes me angry that we all have to be a party to it every morning. What should we do?

May this be the worst of your worries. Seriously. Do you really have nothing else to do at work that you sit and wait every morning for him to blow his nose so you can get pissed off? Just put your headphones on and go about your day. If any of you had had the nerve to bring it up to him a long time ago, this wouldn't be a problem, would it?

I totally agree with you on this nose-blowing-in-public issue! I suggest going over to him once he is done, take a close look at him and in a hushed tone go "Hey i think you should go to the toilet and check, there's a piece of booger visible, you'll need the mirror...and some privacy!" So if he has even an ounce of self-conciousness, he will take the hint from then. Hopefully.

Very often people don't realize that what they do is disgusting to other people. For example, I had a student who had very bad body odor. Other students did not want to work with her or sit near her. She was such a nice person so I finally called her into my office and explained to her that she needed to do something about her problem. She was flabbergasted that no one had ever told her about it, was so thankful about my being honest with her, and took care of the problem. Same thing happened with a co-worker with terrible breath. Everyone talked about him but no one helped. I finally took a bottle of scope into his office, put it on his desk, and told him that he needed to take care of business .. that as much as everyone liked him they had a problem with his breath. He told me he was having dental problems and was having it taken care of but wasn't aware that it could be smelled by others. Again, he thanked me for my honesty.

It takes guts to do this but I would want someone to tell me if there was something I was doing that was skeeving others out! The best thing you can do is to take him aside and tell him about it in a gentle way - so as to not strip him of his dignity. I think you will feel better about yourself as will he - rather than being uptight about the whole thing (you and fellow co-workers)

I blow loudly because of severe sinus problems. My grandson does the same. The other day my son-in-law heard me blow my nose and said, "Now I know where Alex gets it from!" I asked if he had ever had sinus problems and he said he hadn't. I told him if he had he would know just how difficult it is to get all that gunk out of the back of your sinus cavity - and unfortunately it is loud. I've tried, since then, to either be more gentle (and quiet) or leave the room. I hope you go for being honest with your co-worker.

Get a life! Different people make different noises while blowing their nose. Get over it, it's not all about you! Why do you think another name for a nose is honker? Grow up and quit whining.

Go to the boss. This is something that can be done in the bathroom. If everyone makes the same complaint, not just you, it will have more impact.

"in accordance to the Globe, the lawyer common's workplace in no way asks a pair of employees citizenship status by way of fact officers declare their purpose is to enforce state regulation – no longer federal immigration regulation. Steve Kropper, cochair of Massachusetts voters for Immigration Reform, mentioned illegals are no longer entitled to minimum salary by way of fact they do no longer seem to be voters. "No government factors could be committed to the rights of individuals who're here illegally," he mentioned. "They broke the regulation via being here. they had no outstanding to the activity."" Slavery is criminal? the employer could be fined and the unlawful immigrant refunded and deported. the excellent reason companies hire unlawful immigrants is to pay the worker below minimum salary. The unlawful immigrant could already understand this, which companies will provide up hiring unlawful immigrants in the event that they are compelled to pay unlawful immigrants equivalent pay.

Start leaving anonymous notes on his desk before he gets in.
If enough of you do this, he might actually realize he is creating a unpleasant atmosphere.

I like the anonymous note idea. it would be easier than trying to talk with him about it and if you tell your boss you look like a whiner!
