you should wait to see if you really want one. youll have to live with it your whole life and you might not want it when your 30 and trying to be professianal or something people might not want that type of thing in there office.but if you really want one get something meaningful like something religous if you r . or your name

Just knowing that you have a Mom that did not say "No", but instead said "In a few years" makes her alright by me.
Of course maybe she's hoping you will change your mind, though I do not believe that is likely.
A tattoo is such a personal thing that the decision as to what it should be and where it should be, is all yours to make.
This is something you will be living with for a very long time, as in forever. So, see where you're at emotionally in a few years then decide. As for body piercings, I'm not big on them, except perhpas ears, maybe belly button, so I'd say wait on that one even longer... of course that choice is reversable.
I waited until I was 32 to get my first tattoo, and I absolutley love it, it truly meant something to me, and still does. I got my second and last one when I was 38, and I'm good with that one as well. Neither of my tats show, ever.. another good choice on my part.
Good luck to you..
You are yong yet, get out and enjoy your life... don't let your youth slip away.

I know it's been said, but I'm gonna say it again... 15 is too young to get a tattoo that you will be happy with forever. You know you want one, (you think), say you live to be 70-something at least, what's three more years without one? Really. But since you think you know you want one, start figuring out what you want now. If you can draw, or have a friend who can, get an idea of what you want and draw it out... perfect it. My first tattoo design came to me at age 18, it took me three years to get it right, I took it in, and it's perfect, exactly where I want it, and exactly how I wanted it to look. I look at it and I remember the first sketch, and the motivation behind that first sketch. It has personal meaning, and THAT'S what matters most in this... I despise flash, I think it's the tackiest thing in the world... see the same tattoo on 5000 differen't people..... bleh.... Oh how glad I am that I didn't go through with my tribal lower back piece before they became popular.... I think I still have the sketch though....

I went behind my folks backs when I was 15 and got tattoos.
It changed things between my folks and me pretty quickly and for a long time - not necessarily for the better. Also, I am not happy with the tatt I got that time. If I were in your shoes, I would sit down with your folks and work a time schedule of when will work for you and them, and start taking some serious time to figure out what kind of tattoo you want to get. It is for life.

PS. Those tribal banner tatts all the girls have their lower backs - how UN-original when there are 100,000 (+) girls all running around with them. How are those tatts going to look when those girls are all 40?

If you want one, there is nothing wrong with it. It's a way of self expression, and some are really beautiful...as long as you don't go overboard with them. Each state has a law, so you might want to check and see which applies to you. In Georgia, it's illegal for anyone to tattoo you until you're 18, unless it's for cosmetic purposes. Good luck, and make sure you pick one that is something that's special to you.. shows part of who you are..and make sure to study if for a while.. decide if you want that forever. You could even go to a henna artist and have one applied.. they usually stay up to 6 weeks.. that would be one way to see what you do or don't like...The same laws go for piercings also..

I got my first and only tattoo at 30. I agree with your mom in that you should wait. It is a permanent thing and tattoo removal is very painful and doenst always work. I have a flower vine around my ankle and it can be covered when necessary. I do not regret getting mine and do love it. However, I thought long and hard before getting it. I like tattoos but it is not something that you should do on a whim because like I said, it is a permanent thing.

I think you should not get one because in another 15 years you are going to wish it was not there and guess what?? It's yours forever. Or you might get fat then your tat will strecth and thats another waste. Your Tab!!! Hey if it's what you want go for it. You must be a freak!! And at only 15!! What went wrong?!?

If you don't know what you want, or where to get it, you aren't really ready for a tattoo. Try researching the history of tattoos and tattooing in different cultures, that may inspire you. If you don't know what or where you want it by then, then you probably should wait til you do!

listen to your mom...but while you are waiting look around and see what you like. and yes, 15 is too young to have anything pierced besides your ears.....try not to grow up too fast or be too different because ultimately we all live with the choices we've made and things that i chose to do at 15 still haunt me at age 45. Listen to mom and choose wisely.

It would be much better if you listen your mom. Tattoos can be really dangerous. You have too go to an expensive tattoo shop. Don't care about the cost. Your health is much more precious
