not to offend anyone with religion, but even the bible tells you "spare the rod and spoil the child"
I was spanked as a child and thought my parents were awful when they done it, but now that I am grown, I realize they had to and I needed it. They didn't do it to be mean, they did actually do it because I did something wrong and that was punishment. I totally agree with some of the other comments. That is why we have brats all over the place, and have kids beating up their parents because they weren't disciplined. I have two children. I have never beat them or anything like that, but I will spank them if they do something really bad. People need to get off this "time out" crap and spank their children when they need it. My children are very well behaved and when we go somewhere, they know how to act. I can't stand to be in a supermarket and hear some kid screaming and hitting at their parents and they are like now honey, calm down. Please! I turned out fine and respect my parents for the raising I had. I am 32 and I wouldn't back talk my parents for anything. Not that they would hit me, but purely out of respect. That's what too many kids lack these days! If kids don't have respect for their parents, they will never respect anyone. I gained that respect totally from my parents keeping me in line and not taking crap from me or my siblings. When a child is old enough to know right from wrong, then in my book, they get disciplined!

No, i do not imagine the authorities or all of us else for that count number must have a say so on all of us's parenting, till for sure there are glaring signs and indications of abuse or if a decision is made to CPS, then definite, that is going to be investigated, yet telling us the thanks to develop and self-discipline our youthful ones? No, i do not imagine it really is appropriate. often times, there is really no longer something else which will artwork, except for a swat on the butt, do not beat the toddler, yet a smack or 2, ought to no longer kill them or scar them for existence. I have spanked my children previously, no longer because i had to, yet because after such rather some tries, of each feasible self-discipline option you may imagine of, no longer operating, I felt that become the purely thanks to placed an end to the priority. Spanking must be used as a very last hotel, even though it should not be banned.

There is a thing called discipline..Children learn what they are taught. If they are taught it's ok to throw a fit and take a swing at parents and they just say..ok time out.. They do need to be taught right from wrong.. How did they learn to talk?? It took a parent to teach. I don't mean beat a kid either. There is a right way to do all things. No wonder we have so many bad kids now. No one will stand up and say that is wrong. No respect for parents or anyone else. Such a rude generation growing up now. Makes you wonder why?? No discipline. No one being a parent or guiding them the right way. It's ok to curse a person according to kids today. So many gangs now. Why do they need to be in such control they need to be learning for their future. God help them when they are old enough to have children. With the way things are headed now. No control... no discipline.. no respect.
Bringing up kids with no morals of right from wrong. Come on parents, be parents again. Set an example before it is too late.

The hitting crap is really getting carried away now a days. That's why we have little devils running around the supermarkets and yelling at there parents! I AM a parent, and I do believe in a spanking now and then! Its funny because the kids now a days know you cant hit them, and they will tell you that you cant! The kids discipline is getting worse as time goes on its out of control!

I seen this on the news. It is for children under 4. I wouldn't spank a child under 4 because they don't know any better. I have 3 kids and don't spank. All ages 3 to 12. I don't think it does any good. Each to thier own though. Some children really do need a good *** kicking almost just to get thier attention I understand but personally I don't do it.

I agree the state already tries to control to much, now they want to step in to tell us how to raise kids, but spanking has worked for years granted there is parents that abuse their kids. But the government is taking it to far if this bill passes.

The government should stay out of peoples homes. Banning spanking is so stupid. what is this world comming to?

I don't think the government should tellme how to handle my children. I agree that BEATING your child is wrong, but sometimes a swat on the butt is all that you can do. My son laughed at time out, and we could find no other way sometimes to get his attention and make him act right. The government has enough control over my life, I don't need them telling me how to raise my kids too.
