Well.... Depends what you smoke....
Ordinary cigarettes can be a bit smelly, but there are lots of tobaccos, including blends and aromatics that you can buy for hand-rolling and pipe smoking with very nice aromas, that leave a nice smell in a room, almost like you've been burning incense.

But really, this question is just hateful, vicious and totally intolerant. It seems these days it's completely acceptable to act as aggressively as you want toward smokers, which is a sad state of affairs.

Yes I do realize how pathethic I smell. Yes I can smell it on other people. I would give anything to quit smoking. I can smell it everytime I come home. It is a hard habit to break and you can't quit until you're ready to. I am ready but with all the things going on in my life at this time I can't. So for all you non smokers out there and the quitters I am proud of you but you also have to understand, we all have some bad habits that we cannot break, wether it be fighting with loved ones cuz you're just that type of person, down to being a racist. I recently got my old job back and I cannot believe the rude, snooty, I am better than you are rotten people. We all put our pants on the same way, whatever happened to just being nice ? Yes, we stink, most of us don't care, I personally don't smoke if the person I am around doesn't want me too. I also don't blow smoke in other peoples faces or smoke while other people are eating, it is very rude.

Smokers, generally. know the smell that cigarettes make.

Smokers. majority of them, try not to leave behind the smell. Either they go outside in an open area to smoke, or chew some gum. or rinse-wash.

Smoking is another form of addiction. Smokers should not be condemned, rather should be helped in quitting the habit.

That's actually one of the reasons that I quit smoking! I had to stop for a week because I was having a medical test. After about 2 days, I was able to smell it on people and it practically made me sick. It made me think, "Is that really how I smell?" When you're a smoker and you're used to the smell, you don't smell it on others or on yourself.

Smokers, real smokers are 'invulnerable' already for those raunchy cigarettes odor on themselves.
I understand what you feel here. I experienced the same thing like you had probably until I was so pissed off by them all. Shortly I have no respect at all for loyal smokers whatsoever.
But then I realize at the same time that I have also my right to breath fresh air... while smokers have their own right to inhale cigarettes.
You really cannot escape smokers. They are everywhere, wherever you go in this planet. All you can do is to keep in mind that you have your own right to inhale fresh O2 aka oxygen freely without them 'suffocating' you at all. Hope you can find your own way to deal with this problem. :)

I am ex-smoker. Was smoking around 12 years and off it for abt 3 years. I never knew that the smell was that bad. After I had left smoking, for 1 month, one of my smoker friends came to see me, I smelt the smell of a corpse but did not realize it came from him. That's how non-smokers feel of smokers!!!

Yes they do. I'm sure you see ads on TV for breath mints, smokers tooth paste and air fresheners. When smokers shower they smell the residue drip down their face when the water goes through their hair. They are very aware of all the no smoking areas and all the rest.

Smokers are addicted to nicotine. This drug addiction makes satisfying their urge more important to them than worrying about what others think about their odor.

I guess it depends on a person. All of the men on my mom's side smoke, everyone on my dad's side smokes (including my dad), and my husband smokes as well. So the smell of cigarettes makes me feel comfortable. I guess it has to do with good memories rather than the smell, but I still like it.

I can only speak for me, but I have to say, I didn't realize how bad it was on me.

I remember coming home from work and before I even got to the door to open it I could smell the cigarette smoke outside the door. That's pretty bad. I remember throwing out a lot of clothes that had gotten so yellowed from cigarette smoke that it wouldn't come out with any cleaner.

Course, after throat cancer I don't smoke anymore so the smell is gone from me. Unfortunately after having your larynx removed due to cancer you can't smell anything anymore because you don't breathe through your nose anymore.

Hey dude. I quit Jan 5th. Been smoke free for 17 days and I can already smell foods better now.
The smell left behind after smoking is pretty bad and I didn't even know it was that smelly being a smoker.
But, yeah, it's a pretty bad smell.
