My son has 9 periods and none of them include a music class. This has to be taken before school meaning he has to wake up as early at 5:30 to get ready to take this class. I was wondering what kind of schedule your children have at school; how many periods and when art and music classes are available. And what do you feel can be improved with that schedule.

He is in 6th grade, middle school. If you can tell me what grade your child is in as well. Thanks.

While I am all for children taking care of their responsibilities I also believe that kids need to be kids. With the schedule that a lot of schools expect, it's next to impossible. I wrote a long letter to everyone that I could think of regarding this issue, that my son had to drop both music courses that he wanted to take because it was too early. I sent the letter very early this morning and I haven't heard from one person yet. Thank you all for replying.

hey my boy is 8 and in 3rd grade they switch every 9 weeks the first 9 he had music the next 9 art and it rotates the whole year i think it's awful art and music should be daily classes (like they use to) as for pe (gym) they go mon, wed, fri every week and the other tue, thr art or music. my boy goes to the best school in the district but i still think there is room for improvement in his school but it's hard to convince any of the other moms who think that everything is fine the way it is.. if in the future my boy needs to wake early for something as inriching as music i'd do it it will be worth it in the long run..although it would be easier for both parent and child to take the class after school as opposed to before..

My 3rd grader starts his school day at 11:00 am. He breaks for lunch at 12:30. He works until all his alloted subjects for the day are done. He is usually finished with school around 2:00 pm. He has gym daily, by playing outside. Then he has music class twice weekly in the late afternoon.

He is homeschooled, so we don't have to get up at 5:30 am.

Many middle schools only offer those classes for one marking period or only one is offered one marking period and the other another marking period. My daughter is in 7th grade and has art this marking period but had music last marking period.

I am not sure of her exact schedule.

I can ask her and let you know later.
