I have total respect for anyone’s believes, and have many friends that are Muslim, and who are fed up with way they are treated by some, because of a few who use the Quran to their own means, and of course we see what happens with the deaths of so many.
SO my question is I hear, and read so much about how Muslims are opposed to all these deaths, so why are you not doing something about it? There are supposed to be so many of you, yet you seem to sit back and allow yourselves to be dictated to by some of your so called leaders, who allow these murders to go, so why not rise up against it? Or are really for this, and just saying your not I can’t believe any God would allow this, or want it to go on, and you seem to be in the best position to stop it

May the love of God be you

Love & Peace

Ok, there are some idiots answering this question....so i will give my view as a Muslim with a brain unlike some of the people above!!

Terrorism is such a twisted, complex issue, its individuals who are brainwashed by certain persons into committing these crimes. When these guys are being brainwashed, unfortunately their families are unaware of twhats going on because no one can keep track of their kids 24/7.
The mosques have stared throwing out extremists and are more cautious of dodgy preechings now days.
If you want to know exactly what Muslims are doing about all this, contact the Muslim Council of Britain as they are taking a stance against terrorism.
Unfortunately the ordinary Joe can only educate their kids to stay away from such things!
Hope this helps.

If any Muslims read this I would like to add that nearly everybody I know is not anti Muslim and does not want to fight. I understand it is difficult if from birth you parents tell you that you must hate this race or that race but I think and hope that the new generation will make the decision that peace and harmony is the future and not bombs and killing their fellow humans whatever race they might be. I see some answers on this site which shock me with their message of hate so this is my message of peace and respect fo all people on this earth and especially to those people whose lives are torn apart by war and food and water shortages. I cry when I see the little children and the fear on their faces.

I am a Muslim from the ME and I have to be honest, in my environment we are not doing much against that, thought we completely disagree on violence and terrorism, but we feel so distant and powerless to do anything about it.
It is a shame some people cover themselves in the name of Islam while doing such things.

User name: rahim hakja is not a Muslim!
Please don't believe his lies.

The only war condoned by the Qu'ran is a war of self-defense. "Warfare is an awesome evil" (2:217), but sometimes it is necessary to fight in order to bring the kind of persecution suffered by the Muslims to an end [2:217] or to preserve decent values [22:40]. But Muslims may never initiate hostilities, and aggression is forbidden by God [2:190] While the fighting continues, Muslims must dedicate themselves wholly to the war in order to bring things back to normal as quickly as possible, but the second the enemy sues for peace, hostilities must cease. [2:192]

When our brothers, sisters and children are being killed in Palestine, when our mothers and sisters are being raped, when our youth are being pushed around, when our Qu'raan is being desecrated, how do we "seem to be in the best position to stop it"?

Have you read the news lately?
Did you see, when Lebanon was being devastated, how the Muslims were suffering?
Did you see how the jewish children were writing "with love" on their missiles before launching the same at our Muslims?
Why are YOU not doing something about it? Why are YOU not doing something about the oppression of Muslims? Why are YOU not questioning the West about the suffering they are imposing on us, on Iraq, on Palestine?

We DO speak out against the deaths and violence and we DO ask for compassion towards our bretheren. But is anyone listening to US?

Does Islam's theology promote terrorism?
No. Islam neither condones nor allows the taking of innocent human lives in order to promote a cause. In fact, Islam does not allow a person to act in an un-just manner even if that person has been subject to injustice.

The Qur'an says, "O You who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be against rich or poor, for God can best protect both. Follow not the cravings of your hearts, lest you swerve, and if you distort justice or decline to do justice, verily God is well-acquainted with all that you do."

- Chapter 4, Verse 135

What does jihad mean?
Literally, jihad means struggle. In Islam, there is an internal struggle which precedes any external struggle. The internal struggle is the effort of a Muslim to conform their lives to the five basic pillars of Islam (please refer to the first question above). Without the completion of the inner struggles, there can be no outer struggle --one to explain and convey the message of Islam to the world. It is important to note that the external struggle is not about war, but about conveying the message of Islam peacefully. In order to do that, the messenger, a Muslim, must know their own religion. At this time, very few Muslims really know their religion.

How do Muslim-Americans feel about the attack upon the World Trade Center and Pentagon?

Muslim-Americans, like all Americans, grieve for the tragic loss of innocent lives. We abhor these acts allegedly taken in the name of "Islam." As far as we are concerned, no one who calls themself a "Muslim" would commit such a heinous, criminal and cowardly act. As an organization, Muslims Against Terrorism is categorically opposed to all acts of terrorism in all areas of the world.

there are hve been sooooo many protests in washington, egypt, Muslim communities in Europe and North America condemned the terrorist attacks, fatwas were issued against terrorism in mosques but all these arent covered by the media!
