No offense to anyone but the US is played out! I need a new way of living lifestyle wise that is hard to come by in the US. Im originally an island girl & I love to travel. My attitude is very laid back about money, possessions, & other material things. I tend to focus more on people & learning than anything else. With that being said I am looking for programs that are volunteer in nature, dealing with children is a must as well as living in a country that is spanish speaking with possible language immersion programs. The catch, i need a job, some type of stipend, or a trade for services (like I teach for room and board). So far I have narrowed it down to Panama & one other country that for whatever reason i can't name on this website. I would greatly appreciate anyone who could give me information on programs like these as I am having a difficult finding one that I can essentially afford. I plan to be out of the country for a min. of 6months max. of 2yrs...ahh the dilemna of money...

Negrita, allow me one suggestion. Perhaps the issue of money as difficult as it seems may give you an advantage.

You can try joining a volunteer organization that covers all of your expenses. Work abroad for about 6,12,18 or 24 months.

Advantages of this idea? You will get a better understanding on how life is in the country you select, get used to the local laws and customs, don't have to worry about expenses, and the most important thing of all: you will get to make many local friends that will help you in the transition, while you help them with their needs. Once you get all of that, money will not be so important, although there is an option, but I can't name it here because it would be considered by Yahoo as advertisement.

Best wishes.

Check out Peru. A girlfriend of mine just did a six month stint teaching English, and she's going back next month.
Good luck.

As I was reading the details of your question, I felt as if I were reading a "personals" ad. Since you are so "laid back", check out the Peace Corps; they pay a small stipend.
