Religious fanatics and right wingers will tell you smoking marijuana is deadly, but they are the only ones.
I do not smoke it myself, tried it a couple of times back in the late 70's but that's about it. However I live in the marijuana capital of the U.S. , Mendocino County, people smoke and grow it all day long. No, it will not cause cancer, though it might help the cancer sufferer with their pain. No, it will not give you a heartattack, though if you have a bad heart you should not be smoking anything anyway. Marijuana has many wonderful possibilities in the world of medicine. It is natual, grown from the ground. I would advise you to log onto a Marijuana web-site and check it out, I think you'll be surprised.

As far as i know, there have never been any direct links to any fatailities when consuming Marajuana, however todays weed has changed in to super skunk, with High levels of THC.
Although it is seen to be safe, there can pyscological side effects on long term users i.e. mood swings n stuff. Also a Schizophernia (i think thats how u spell it) is also linked with long term users, however this is too debated.
Also as the goverments are cracking down on people that smoke Ganja causing the dealers to scamming their punters, i.e. putting Sand in the Skunk to make it heavier. This is having an impact on people health and is compromising safety when smoking cannabis. Goverments have been warned by "Make-It-Legal" groups however, the message was brief and not all effective. U gonna have better chance of finding info at www.ukcia.org
Oh, try some 'chees'e if u can get some - u wnt be disappointed!

Marijuana is not a deadly substance though different types will give you different effects but mostly it just helps the pain die down and your body relax. But for me I would say I dont use the Marijuana that you buy of the streets because the type you should use if you have cancer, like myself, is Medicinal Marijuana which you can't grow but you can get from a certain state that I dont know which and from Doctors, which I dont see in the US.

Marijuana contains a small amount of carcinogens, but not really enough to worry about. You get more from the foods you eat. Alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and sugar, are much worse for you.
The most dangerous thing about marijuana is the over reaction by the police and courts.
The average sentence served for murder in the U.S. is 7 years, the average sentence for having an ounce or more of pot is 15 years.
--side note: I don't smoke pot. On top of the risks being higher than the benefits I don't like it.

"According to the Merck Index, 12th edition, the LD50, the lethal dose for 50% of rats tested by inhalation, is 42 mg/kg of body weight. That is the equivalent of a 165 lb (75 kg) man inhaling all of the THC in 21 one-gram cigarettes of extremely high-potency (15% THC) cannabis buds at once, assuming no THC was lost through burning or exhalation, though a substantial amount of THC is lost through smoking, making the actual amount of cannabis required higher. For oral consumption, the LD50 of THC for rats is 1270 mg/kg and 730 mg/kg for males and females, respectively, equivalent to the THC in about a pound of 15% THC cannabis. Only with intravenous administration may such a level be even theoretically possible."

I've heard that one joint contains as much tar as an entire pack of cigerettes. So daily use is surely bad for your lungs! Furthermore, marijuana has been known to promote certain feelings of paranoia and depression, especially in individuals suffering from some form of mental instability. I haven't heard any specific test results, but I feel it's a fair conclusion that it at least slightly increases suicidal tendencys.

Anything burnt and smoked is not going to do much good for you. But yes marijuana has a lot of medicinal and commercial possibilities including clothing, materials, ropes etc.
